I have been looking for a new shooter game that is going to be very realist, you can play it online, and have real weapons that are used in real military situations. I already have call of duty 4 so please suggest something else.

Several issues here:

1. COD 4 is NOT realistic
2. There hasn't been a realistic Rainbow Six game since Rogue Spear.
3. There already is a Rainbow Six game in 2009, it's called Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, but it's not at all realistic because it's made by ubisoft, they are allergic to realistic games or something.


If you want realistic shooters, wait for ArmA II and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

I have been watching Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

So far it looks good and it said to have a demo coming out so we can give it a test run!

Man.. I'd really love to have a new RS game. More guns... new better maps... less bugs during t hunt...

Anyway, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising looks promising. I'm hope it's not like Battlefield: Bad Company...

I played the first two Operation Flashpoints. I though they were pretty good, just some of the hikes you had to take to get to an obj were pretty long. I'm hoping however, that the realism sticks with the next game.

I hope, i actually want to get back into the rainbow six series. The Vegas series made absolute no sense to me. I want to c a better series made.

Fear and Anticipation Trailer

ArmA II should be out tomorrow, and that's closer to a sequel to the original Operation Flashpoint than Dragon Rising. I've read reviews for ArmA II saying that it's frustratingly realistic, but has some bugs in the friendly AI when they are in vehicles, and I've read some complaints of objectives in missions failing to trigger when you complete them or they say you failed when you didn't, or sometimes it'll say the objectives are complete without you doing anything... But almost everywhere, despite these bugs have given the game high marks because the game is actually very fun if you like realistic shooters.

Oh, the demo for Arma II is out if you guys want to try it out first to see if you like it. I heard the system requirements are kind of crazy though, so be ready for that. I'm hoping my system will handle it, just got a Radeon 4890 1GB, hoping that would help...

ArmA II demo

Some of us tried the demo of Arma 2, and it looks good.
The big problem so far is setting up controls.
There are a ton of them and the interface for binding keys isn't the most user friendly.

It does look like it could be a fun game if you want to take the time set everything up.

It ran great for me at 1920x1200!!

Yah, setting up the keys are crazy, lol. But it's better than the first ArmA, and thank goodness they let you move while reloading this time around, geez that was stupid in ArmA...

And thank goodness anti-tank weapons actually detroy APC's and their occupants this time around, I hated trying to blow one up only to have its crew come out and kill me before I can put the launcher away...

Wait for Ground Branch.

I was watching Ground Branch for awhile, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
No updates that I can find, and the last post in the forum was last February.

Yah, Ground Branch looks like a dead-end. So far it has been all talk and promises. Who knows, maybe it'll come out and will be great, but I'm a "I'll believe it when I see it" type person so I guess I'll wait and see but won't hold my breath. I already have Arma II and already have Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising on pre-order. :-) I'll be pretty well occupied regardless of if Ground Branch goes anywhere or not, lol. Good luck to them...

I'm just disappointed that no games have the FN FAL in it. I would like to use that in a game sometime.

And don't hold your breath for any more realistic Rainbow Six games. Just remember that Ubisoft holds the rights to the Rainbow Six franchise now along with all other Tom Clancy games. So unfortunately, if you see the Tom Clancy name or Rainbow Six attached to anything, count on it being focused on console players.
