Lame, they think the F-16 is better than the F-18E or the A-10? Ha, I laugh at that concept... Veryhappy

Anyway, the spectre in Transformers was flying WAY too low, but they really just did that so it would look cooler, so you can see the spectre gunship, the tracers, and the scorpion being hit all in one shot, lol.

Yeah, well...they ARE Viper drivers afterall. They're actually expressing their envy of some of the other aircraft though. The bit about the F/A-18E "I wish I had the Alpha of a Hornet...while I can still pitch and roll, that other guy's goin' out of control..." that's a compliment to the high-Alpha abilities of the Hornet. Not many aircraft in the world can match it. Veryhappy

One of their other songs "Jeremiah Weed" shows one of the weaknesses of the F-16..."If you drive the Viper then you've gotta drink it fast. 'Cause this ain't a time to loiter, and we ain't got the gas."

In that Spectre scene, did the 105 get any action?

If I'm not mistaken, that's what they called for in the movie. It's basically a rapid fire artillery piece, lol.

The underpowered and short legged Hornet?

One thing that would be cool is if an AC-17 was adopted. The Spectre's already a beast, but boost it's speed, weapon capacity/capabilities, countermeasures and avionics.

Yup, that be the one, Tacamo. The Super Hornet...which can also carry 2 more AIM-120s than the F-15C. Short legs aren't really much of a factor, that's what tankers are for. The Hornet is also one of the first operational American aircraft to be equipped with JHMCS and the AIM-9X. In fact, just two weeks ago, I snapped some excellent close-up shots of VMFA-112 A+ Bugs with the 9X on the outboard rails. The Hornet also held its own in DACT against German MiG-29s, slow...with high Alpha is where they excelled.

Demon, I've definitely gotta see that. The targeting system for the 105 is pretty high tech stuff. Its basically a black grease pencil in the hands of the FO. They fire for effect, and he just marks it on the inside of the windscreen. The rest of the stuff is directed from the little, secret room.

My big problem with the Hornet in general is how they're trying to make it a jack of all trades. Short legs based on a carrier could be excused, but the issue comes where they want to use if for tanking, strike and EW missions. The latter no helped by the fact the USAF retired its EF-111's with no replacement in mind except the EA-6B Prowlers. Thus falling onto the unproven notoriously short legged EA-18G. Considering it's a carrier based light weight fighter it definitely holds its own. Personally I don't think it's a particularly good idea to have short range aircraft protecting the fleet. Especially with supersonic, sea skimming and/or maneuverable cruise missles hitting the international arms market at a fast pace. Of course the escorts will be able to deal with a good amount of those it's still better if you can get them farther out or even take out the launch platforms first.

Oh, I'm definitely with you on the Growler though. That's a job that really isn't suited to a short-legged aircraft. EW aircraft need independent loiter capability, and the Growler ain't up to it. Who knows? Maybe we're putting all of our chips on LO technology. It might not be a bad way to go though, as our potential enemies aren't very well equipped at the moment...and Tomahawk's have been the first-strike weapon of choice for at least a decade.

J.K. old friend....
I am one of those individuals that can be friends with someone who does not view you in perhaps the best light, while at the same time viewing you through a very different prism....
It is a good feeling, however fleeting, to see some of us from the Old Guard still here occasionally...
Warms the cockles of my heart... Tongue

Lol, you know, as much as I hate this game, I like this forum because you can get away with jokes like this. White Knight, you know I got banned from the BFS forum because I tried to joke around with someone. And I didn't even call that person gay, it was MUCH tamer than this and the mods are all lecturing me about it... Oh well, those damn nazi's, lol. I'll be back on the forum in about 4 days, but don't expect a single joke out of me, I'll be a game speaking robot, lol. Nah, what's the fun in that, temperary suspensions wouldn't stop me, that's like getting detention at school, I was back to my shenanigans the very next day, lmao.

Ya gotta remmeber that BFS's forums are for a developer that is still trying to land a publsher. There are certain ideals and rules that are evident there unlike most forums where almost anything goes. Having those rules and ideals mean a more professional look and feel to the devs. As a mechanic should not **** a fellow mechanic to any potential customer or fellow mechanic, same with developers and development houses. This includes certain kinds of joking even amongst members.

While here at Ubi things are a bit more relaxed, there are stll lines that can't be crossed.
