I need some help please. I have installed a Logitech Clearspeak Headset to my computer. The only way I can get it to work is manually going to Control Panel > Speakers and select the headset as default. I figured if I turned off the headset it would default back to the speakers, but that is not the case. I have to go back in and select speakers as the default to change back. There has to be an easier way of swithing back and forth between the two. As going through this each time is a pain in the rear. Anyone have a simpler way of switching back and forth? Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hey Styker,
Here is a solution I use with a Triton 5.1 headset.
Just hook up a mini stereo Y adapter, plug it into your sound card, then plug your speakers in one of the cables and your headset in the other.
Both work at the same time.

I turn off my speakers when I play online with my headset, and turn speakers and the headset of when I play offline.

Here is something similar to what I bought.

The ones I bought were also from Wal-Mart (online) but are 6' long, gold plated connectors, and were $4.88 with $1.88 shipping to 2 sets.
( I can't find them now)
Here is another similar item:

Maybe try Radio Shack.
I personally don't like that store but they would likely have some.

I have to use 3 with my 5.1 headset, but they sound great.
(8 speakers .. 4 in each side)

I also run 5.1 desktop speakers, so just set my sound to 5.1 and it works great for both.

Here is my headset, but I got them on sale for $70 shipped.

They are powered so you can get way more volume then you need.
Very scary in WaW if they are turned up very loud and someone shoots me with sniper rifle from not too far away.
Also, when you are under an artillery attack!!

Stryker .. I didn't look up your headset, but if it is USB, none of the above will work.

Lethal,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. But you did threw a monkey wrench into the works with your last post. Unfortunatly the headset I perchased is USB Connected so I guess your efforts were waisted.

I maybe mistaking here but it seems years ago on some of my computers (that are now in the great resting place for computers)if you plugged in a headset the signal went to it. When you unplugged the headset the signal defaulted back to the speakers. I am talking way back to the time before external speakers were even incorporated in the equasion. But anyway thanks again Lethal and maybe someone else can use the information you posted.

StrykerN.

Sorry Stryker .. I thought I had come up with a solution for you, but then after I finished, it occured to me that you might have USB.

I and others have used USB headsets, and we also had to change settings in Teamspeak to make them work.
It's simple to do, just change the drivers from your sound card to the USB drivers, but still a bit of a pain if you forget.

Since your speakers and your USB headset use different drivers, they don't always revert back automatically.

Maybe an invention opportunity for you??!!
