Yeah, I took a bit to read up on the subject, and apparently it's really hard to use FPS rhetoric with regards to how sensitive the Eye is. The Eye continously processes light and data, rather than seeing in 'frames'. So, the best guess is around 72fps, since that will in a sense, overload the visual cortex/optic nerve with information, as real life does.

Well, ya you can see the difference. I'm just saying you can't see it stopping or anything, hence "the slideshow effect." That stuff.

Basically, once the framerate is fast enough, it's just perfectly smooth, you can't see any individual frames. Well, you can but... you know what I mean.

To make it more interesting, movies that you'd see in the theater, are traditionally at 24fps. Why don't we see chop in those? Because of motion blur Wink

Not to question your research exactly, but there's two elements involved here: the ability of the eye to distinguish motion and image change, and the ability of the brain to make sense of the information the eye is giving it and for it to translate it in a way that 'makes sense' to you as a viewer. The eye could see 500fps, but if you're brain can't keep up it doesn't make any difference what your eye is capable of seeing.

Regardless, as long as the frame-rate is up to the 25-30fps rate, it's more it's reliability that matters than it's rate IMO.

BTW HazyNector, I've edited your post to remove the email address - I'd recommend you don't give them out in a public forum, but if people want to contact you directly they can send you a personal message (PM) by clicking your name and inviting you to a private thread where you can discuss whatverer you like or give an address out there. Wink

As for film editing, maybe get out a book on the subject? Smile

This won't be UT3-esque at all...thank god. I mean, I like UT, always have, but I'm just about done with the Unreal 3 engine. It's a very tired and used engine.
