I've listed the necessary (and wanted) patch ideas below, as well as what I think would be beneficial for Free Radical (or Ubisoft, now that FRD is in administration) to do in order to give more longevity to their game. This list was made in mind with regards to work already done on the game, and the easiest way to provide new content and address issues in a relatively cost effective manner. With any luck, this will work as a blueprint for Free Radical and Ubisoft to correct small problems the fan community has discovered, as well as fulfill the initial promises the developers made in regards to features. (Note: all ideas are based on my play through the campaign and any issues I encountered unless otherwise noted. To report a problem, just reply to this post and I'll add it in with credit.)

================================================

NECESSARY PATCH ISSUES
(Everything under this heading needs to be added or addressed ASAP)

MAJOR ISSUES

Eliminate Mantel Trooper's ability to shoot Rebels while they are playing dead. Additionally, stop rebels from dropping weapons when they die. This is imperative. The biggest giveaway from playing dead in online matches is whether the rebel drops their gun. The patch should stop rebels from dropping their guns altogether when they die OR when they play dead. Only if they really die should a weapon appear, and then, it should be after a certain length of time, like 30 seconds to avoid giving the ploy away. Additionally, the animation for a 'play dead' needs to be added to the actual possible death animations for the rebels, as it's also a giveaway that the rebel is faking. Also - Rebels should always fade away immediately to avoid another giveaway if they're faking death or if they've actually died. (mentioned by R.E.Facade and gherkin70)

Fix Rebel's occasional ability to be unable to play dead until their next respawn. (mentioned by Crrato)

Custom controls not saving after being altered. (suggested by trophix1)

Correct hit detection. If someone is shot in the chest or the head, it should do more damage than if they're shot in the leg or the arm. A sniper bullet in someone's foot shouldn't have the same effect as if it struck their head.

Bot support in Team Assault and Capture & Hold modes. There's nothing wrong with the modes, but the fact that they're online only when there's a less than stellar presence online is inexcusible, and needs to be corrected now.

Fix the map loading problem (where the map and characters fail to load and you just fall off and die, only known way to correct is to re-load level).

Support for the textures so they don't constantly pop from low to higher res, as well as flickering textures.

Fix the predictable spawn points in TDM to a system similar to the Team Assault mode with designated squads.

Trophy Support.

NECESSARY MULTIPLAYER EXPANSION

More multiplayer modes.

* CTF (First and foremost!)
* Something similar to the Virus mode of Time Splitters, such as there's one rebel and a bunch of Mantel Soldiers and the rebel has to hit the Mantel's regulators with the knife to 'free' them from Nectar's control until everyone is converted. An opposite mode to this, where a Mantel trooper would have to use a Nectar grenade and cause rebels to use the drug would be a nice addition as well.
* Squad Deathmatch (4 teams of 4 players) (suggested by Viper7)
* Survival (everyone has one respawn) (suggested by Viper7)

Custom Multiplayer matches. Support for the creator of the game to determine what weapons can or cannot be used in a match, limited number of respawns, infinite ammo, etc. (suggested by Kade-yuy)

Squad support within matches.

GENERAL

Custom Soundtrack support.

Stop overwriting of old save game when a new difficulty is selected. Allow selectable difficulty on completed chapters. When a new difficulty is started, it shouldn't erase the progress you made previously, it should merely add on. The player should see 3 stars for the levels they've finished on hard, 2 for the ones finished in normal, etc. When a level is selected for replay, the option to select any difficulty completed should be offered (i.e. if the first chapter is completed on hard, the player should be able to replay it on easy, normal, and hard, but not extra hard). Additionally, when a player joins an online co-op and clears a level, it clears for them at that difficulty and not just the host.

Silence Black Ops assault rifles. (mentioned by R.E.Facade, mentioned in Developer FAQ)

AI tinkering. AI Mantel troopers need to actually use Nectar, as they don't seem to be taking advantage of those capabilities.

Sprint function for all characters. Recommendation - hold 'x' instead of tapping (or double tapping with rebels). The rebels should be able to sprint faster than the Mantel troopers.

More prominence given to weapon spawns. In both Single player and multiplayer (especially in multiplayer), I've walked over weapons without realizing it (the triangle button weapon switch message let me know). In the heat of multiplayer combat, it needs to be easier to find weapons.

Customizable characters in multiplayer. Similar to UT3, where you design the look of your character by swapping the head, chest, and legs of other characters for both Rebel and Mantel troopers. Usable in multiplayer games only, of course (not co-op campaign). The ability to add the symbols used already onto the uniforms would be a great addition.

================================================

WANTED PATCH INCLUSIONS
(Nice additions, but address the first section before these are added/considered)

High res texture patch to improve overall look of the game.

Smoothed out animations. All of the basic running and walking animations look as if there are a few frames missing from the sequence. Also, the jump animation is painful to see, and needs some sort of 'landing' sequence.

Ranking system. Using military ranks based on the players stats with some sort of indicator for their rank beside their name on the scores screen. (suggested by Viper7)

Use of the tank in multiplayer. (mentioned by several posters)

================================================

NEW CONTENT - release if still viable

(Note: The following were ideas I came up with unless otherwise noted. If suggesting an idea for new content, reply to this post and I'll add appropriately. PLEASE, bear in mind FRD does have other games in development, so "another campaign mode!" isn't a viable request. These are things that COULD potentially happen and aren't unreasonable to ask for, in my opinion.)

More maps. The additional maps (and weapons, with luck) would definitely give legs to the multiplayer:

* Resort area (similar to the pool area of "Las Palmas Sudorosas")
* Cargo ship innards area (similar to "The Falcon" level)
* Snow Area (EVERY FPS needs a snow level)

More Weapons. Suggested to maintain balance in weapons for both sides. For the rebels:

* A pistol (such as a six shot revolver)
* Sub machine gun (MP5K or something, not as powerful as Lobo or Blacksaw, but able to hold more rounds, ideal for short bursts)
* Grenade Launcher (using grenades or Nectar grenades as ammo to shoot grenades further)

For Mantel:

* a cattle prod club (shocks enemy and causes them to drop current clip of ammo)
* Sub machine gun (similar to SBP90, in keeping with Mantel's superior tech and damage of rebel version)
* Suppressed assault rifle, similar to what black ops uses in game. Allows for players to use a little more stealth as their weapon won't emit noise.

Reduce clip size of assault rifles to 150 for Lobo and 120 for Blacksaw to increase desirability of sub machine guns (entirely my opinion).

Dual wielding of pistols, either two revolvers, two Diplomats, or a combination of the two. Note that you would not be able to throw grenades while dual wielding, you would have to settle for carrying two powerful guns.

Of course new ideas are welcome, and I'll edit and add what's nessecary depending on what the community thinks is acceptable.

Keep in mind, I realize Free Radical are busy on a patch for this game already - and TimeSplitters 4 - which is why I suggested the things I did. I'm trying to keep it realistic by using primarily things that are already in game (at least to a degree) such as the surpressed assault rifle and grenade launcher, and mostly environments that are already in place and would take minimal work comparitively for new maps.

Sure. I've added what you've already suggested, trophix, and I'll edit again appropriately when I'm next able.

Also, any issues that have been resolved, I'll simply remove from the list.

Keep this going, and like I said, I'll edit and revise (and clean up the look of, if needs be) so it would be easy for any potential Ubi or FRD guys to see an accurate list of wants and needs. A sticky - depending on mods, of course - would be helpful once the community feels this is an accurate and realistic reflection of our wants.

Thanks!

Renniks, I've said it before, but once a day or so, post any player requests you get here, and I'll edit accordingly. Also, be sure to attach credit for those that suggested the ideas.

Like I said - EVERY game needs a snow level. It's in the mountains down there. It adds diversity to the backdrop, which is always good.

I'm surprised it wasn't there to begin with. It should be possible to add it in though, along with everything else (with luck).
