WTF was with that? Merino is just like Mantel. He calls them animals just like mantel did. Also he doesn't know the effect of nector and how it can kill you..... (Also i dont really get that part of the game with Teare on the boat, and why he reveals that nector kills you........ if they werent going to act on this in the story, why add it?) Merino is stupid to want to use nector, but with "free will". Once you use it, you get addicted and look what happned to mantel. they story was ok, but the story was messed up here and there, where they should of been working on it

No its just that you dont understand there story, its living you thinking if there will be Haze 2

the ending didnt make any sense. evidently, nectar kills the people who use it (as explained in the cargo ship level, though they never say HOW it kills them), did merino forget that? it only happened a few hours before in game time. in fact, does the whole rebel part of the game take part in the span of 1 day? thats a pretty short amount of time to have such a drastic change of heart (also, its a very short amount of time for shane to become such a loyal PH member). oh, and so what if you blew up the land carrier? thats like sinking a warship in WW2, and declaring victory.
did anyone else notice that theres only 3 main characters in the entire game? just shane, merino, and duval. theres never any other named PH members, and no mantel hierarchy, just loads of clone soldiers and PHmembers. i kept asking " where the hell is everyone else?" overall, yeah. what a painfully cliched ending. @trophix- there isnt a person alive who couldnt understand the story. it seriously follows every cliche possible. ive seen more complex stories in a devil may cry game, and thats sad. also, if youre saying that hazes entire story is meant to be just a foreword to haze 2, that makes it even worse. its always in bad taste to end an original ip on a cliffhanger because you assume there will be a second. haze 2, no way. cut your losses and focus on the good games youre making, because the most hardcore of haze fanboys would buy a sequel |

So what happend to that Mantel General they were talking about in the radio in the first mission?

I agree with you. Doesn't really add up, Merino wants mantel destroyed but, then wants to use the poison that mantel used to kill them..?
Also, why weren't any higher end mantels included in the storyline? We see the elite mantel occassionally but that's it. In Gears of War they hinted there was someone/thing organizing the enemy, then foreshadowed the boss and had a cutscene of him killing your commanding officer. It really gets the player involved and thats what was awesome because it had purpose and foreshadowed an epic and important last battle to end the bosses reign of the enemy. Makes sense, no? Wish they added in like, a boss that ran mantel... but it's Duval in the last bosses spot, this means he ran mantel and wasn't just a sergeant, I guess? I don't see how Duval was the only thing standing in Shanes way, isn't there a mantel boss? Disapponting at best.. It doesn't add up for me. You usually have to kill the head of the enemy or someone that the enemy absolutley depends on. I think they should've added in Duval's superior or make Duval very high up in Mantel corp if he's going to be the end boss. Like he Discovered nectar, started Mantel, was the one hiding the effects of nectar from his comrades and thus was the major player, etc. The way they did it, Duval should've been second last boss. After beating him he then reveals Mantels founder/leader and then he becomes your main target to eliminate Mantel. Just my thoughts...don't take them as slander, please. Cheers! |

Thats why they left you thinking if there will be a Haze 2 or not with some hints at the begining.

talking to a random general on a radio doesnt make him a character. the only people involved in the story were shane, duval, and merino. and they werent even interesting.
i thought how it was funny how shane goes from a mantel lapdog to a PH lapdog with almost no hesitation, after only a 5 min conversation with merino. what a horrible character |

And being hunted through the swamp by Mantel troopers who were rather intent on killing him. I'd have second thoughts too if my former buddies suddenly wanted to kill me just because they couldn't get me dosed up on some drug. -Aaron, felt the change was fine |

OK well from the begging
Mantal saves everyone because in one of the trailers it shows Shane growing up he says that there was a 90% chance that he wouldnt live till 20...then thats when Matel saved me a turned me into the most elite soilders ever... Then later he gets on the ship and Duval doesnt the he looks good (He's not addicted to Nector yet thats why he can leave) then later they capture Skin Coat and Shane talks to him and convices him to join the PH... When he crashes you see him dissconect from Manel and also the Nector (THATS THE JUST AN ANIMAL PART...SCARED ME TO DEATH) so he joins the PH does missions when he finds the bodies that guy is dissconected to (thats why he's able to speak clearly) and also the dead bodies are why they go to shut down Nector adminastator to safe people and to defeat Mantel After the nector is dissconected those two people commit suicide and thats whats killing them is that they have a nector disruption (LIKE SO MANY TIMES BEFORE where they see bodies and remember the horrible things they did) and they go suicidal and kill each other Skin Coat says that they were animals and all i have to say about that is 2 things (Skin Coat was/is with Mantel and/or there are no Evil or Good sides to war Its all a point of view... |

Yup thats what I thought so... Morino is a Mantel so there is a chance for Haze 2!!1 |
You did not learn anything from Haze at all, did you?
OVERALL MESSAGE: THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS AS THEY SEEM. (Merino is not as noble as he appears earlier in the game, he just wanted power for himself.) |

The end fight with Duvall was rather lame. Wanted something bigger.

the ending probably should have brough up questions (like all the great endings do) but the effect they where trying with it backfired a bit since promise hand ppl are like angels fighting for freedom or sumtin.
I think the story was supposed to bring on the questions that is there really good side at this war? or are both sides just fighting for their own gain? - Promise hand fights to keep the nectar plants. - Mantel fights to destroy the nectar plants because they want to get monopoly on nectar. both sides are basicly "bad" the leader in mantel and Ph are both "using" their soldiers to fight for their own good. Fight the good fight. Its like US fighting against the "terrorists" when their real reason is the oil. And the Afkhannistan fights to keep the oil and liberty. both sides are basicly evil and ppl are happily fed with the propaganda **** on tv. Ppl are saying this story is clishe, and saying nothing about call of duty4 which is even more clishe than haze. Its time to wake up, theres not really all that many fps games with actual good plot. I have only seen good plot in Deus Ex and The elderscrolls (not the main, but the dark brotherhood was really nice), system shock2 also had nice one. Other games usualy just use single player as practise to multiplayer. |

Yeah, it's supposed to look like that, but you could make the case that the Mantel troopers were fighting to stop "crimes against humanity" and "ethnic cleansing." After all, that's why they were fighting, right? They might've been fighting for their freedom, but they sure as hell weren't angels. Remember the Land Carrier? How many Mantel troopers were just sitting on the ground weeping when you attacked? The Mantel troopers weren't any more able to defend themselves than the "empty hands." Even Shane points this out. Just before the Land Carrier attack, he tells Merino something like "You're going to attack them? But they're practically gone." to which Merino tells him that they have to kill them to make the others happy. Uh huh. Real clean there. -Aaron, was pretty creeped out by Merino by the end |
Seems Shane is the only good guy in the game.
the JUST AN ANIMAL! part is my fave.
also i managed to miss when they are saying what an empty hand is. what does it mean? just an animal.... JUST AN ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!! remember you promise to..*boom*... aaarrgh!!! |

I like when Duvall calls them APS "You f**ing APS" |
how does shane go right into war after college, with no experience, being a sergeant?
"An empty hand is just a grip away from holdin' a gun. So you gotta put em down before they can pick em up. BOOSH!" I believe is how it went.
Dunno, maybe he did real well in boot camp. It's obvious he's never had any real combat experience before the game starts, he hasn't even used Nectar (unless my impression from the start of the game is off) before that first drop into the jungle. -Aaron, likes answering questions |
