I know most of us have waited years for HAZE to release but, I think these next 2 weeks are going to feel longer than that...because of the demo.

anyone else think so?

Easy explanation, Vegas 2 is using PSN servers, this one does not.

Question, anyone else felt like walking through the terrain felt a little twitchy? I know it's not a finished build and all, and I'm liking the game trust me. But for me, it was kinda hard to navigate through the terrain as I kept getting stuck on twigs or height varying ground. Sometimes jumping felt a little shaky at times.

I just want to know if anyone else notice this at all?

Here's hoping these things were fixed in the final since I plan on buying. Nuh uh

Hey guys first time poster.

Here are my demo impressions.

First of all the visuals are very under par, especially when comparing this game to Halo 3, Gears of War, and Resistance Fall of Man. The textures are very bland, and there is a ton of jaggies. As for the character models, again underwhelming. There isn't a whole lot of detail in them, and in addition the AI (especially enemy AI) isn't very good.

The gameplay is extremely generic. This is that mediocre shooter that everybody has played time and time again. There is zero blood, and the enemy bodies disappear literally seconds after you dispatch them. Considering that bigger, more detail games keep the dead bodies of enemies animated, along with blood splatter effects (Halo, Resistance, GTA 4) this is disappointing, especially when you consider how Free Radical pushed forth the idea that this game was going to be edgy and show a brutal and realistic side to combat. The use of nectar is a cool idea. It augments your physically abilities as well as replenishes you health, but it still doesn't do much to make the gunplay less generic. The chatter between comrades is as bland and cliche as your gonna get in a shooter that emphasizes 'badassness'.

I know its just a demo, and I know that Free Radical has stated that this demo will not be any indication of what the full game will be like, however, the game is due to release in 2 and a half weeks, and I really can't see how the overall game will be improved.

There's a reason that there is no blood and the bodies disappear in a few seconds.

And Resistance DOES NOT have better graphics then this. Seriously, I liked Resistance but it just looks like a HD PS2 game.

One of the "benefits" of nectar is to mask the horror of what's really going on. The bodies are only percieved to disappear. When the game advances and you switch sides, then you should get more gore.

Destroynations,

In FRD's defense I'll say this. Demos are usually developed apart from the main game. Meaning this demo could be based on code that's months and months old and does not necessarily reflect on the current process of the final build.

The fact the bodies disappear after they're dispatched is tied in with the story. There is a purpose to that as well. Smile

But I'm really interested in hearing if anyone found walking a bit twitchy at time or found themselves getting stuck with minor things on the ground.

the graphics SUCKs, both expected and is another shooter more, that disappointment, we expected something better, is better than the return to delay and improve what not to lose the investment.

Ubisoft / free radical forums have seen the world, nobody likes graphics, SUCK's, please can do better.

Both expect and pay us with this, insult the capabilities of the PS3.

the game should live up to CoD4 or more and is at the height of Turok... JeSUS

I can´t believe it Nuh uh Confused

please, please, please, please do better...

Angry

PD: My english SUCK's, Sorry...

As others here have pointed out, this is deliberate. Later in the game blood and bodies will appear, (no pun intended).

Amazingly enough, this is also deliberate. I think it's perhaps easy to mistake the tongue-in-cheek humour and take it seriously, in which case, sure it sounds like sub-par GoW talk, but that's the point.

@ Sevenlast - no, other people have commented on this, (here), but personally I didn't notice it much.

@ Frank3D - I suggest you go back and play the Turok demo because frankly the Haze demo kicks it's sorry butt. Wink

[QUOTE]MRCRANBERRY155:

my thoughts on the demo, in terms of environment and character detail the graphics are average did not expect them to be any better or worse i am satisfied with that what really sets it apart from other games is the Particle effects and some of the lighting is impressive such effects as throwing a grenade while on nectar and watching the ripple followed by a awesome explosion with wicked smoke was cool, also at the end of the day graphics is not everything my old critiscisms of the nintendo Wii were based on graphics while my friends pointed out it all boils down to gameplay i can honestly admit spend some time playing Mario Kart Wii or Smash Bros Brawl and you can see it doesnt take super duper graphics to make a Awesome game, the Haze gameplay was good i hear people try compare to crysis and just laugh Cyrsis falls on deaf ears whilst it is a good game it is part of a failing market, PC gaming is hanging on by its last threads market share proves this profitiability is higher these days in console gaming

Epic Games have stated they would like to focus their games on console from now on with games Like Gears of War and UT3 doing excellent on their respective console platforms, the only thing that keeps PC gamers around is Modifications and Community apart from that the only game people are playing on PC still is World Of Warcraft and the clingers on Crysis...

so where do i stand? well i am thoroughly pleased with Haze whilst its graphics are indeed nothing like Halo 3 or Unreal Tournament 3 i will still enjoy it none the less and honestly as long as i personally like it i dont care what some PC Fanboys would like to say otherwise, dont bother flaming me for my opinions i will probably never read this discussion again as i have said my point!

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. Quite frankly I am disappointed in the demo, as my previous statement illustrates, however, I am still looking forward to the game. I've read that the demo is very old, so again, I will give FR the benefit of the doubt.

As for the visuals, I will say this, everybody can talk about gameplay over graphics any day of the week, but at the end of the day when games look and play as good as COD 4, Gears of War, Halo 3, and Resistance (Common dude? A PS2 game in HD? Ever see that many enemies on one screen on a PS2 FPS?), than HAZE has no excuse.

Like I just said though, I will give Free Radical the benefit of doubt. I hope this game looks up to par on May 20th when its in my PS3.

The problem is by making this game have disappearing corpses and zero blood (when playing as a Mantel trooper)by design still equates to a generic experience. Games in this day in age are more realistic, GTA 4 for example, so FRD trying to create some irony or quirk with their game design just isn't suitable or necessary. Nectar should serve to desensitize a soldier, not affect his vision. A better approach would have been to have Carpenter suffer some sort of shell shock when the nectar supply runs out.

As for the script and chatter, I didn't immediately pick up that it was done like this by design. Again I know what FRD is gunning for (now that I've been told), but will casual gamers just looking to have some fun pick up on this symbolism? I strongly doubt it.

All the people who joined the forums in the last few days, and are complaining about lack of blood, and lack of detail et al. This is what happens when you take a look at a game, without actually learning anything about it. Personally, I think you're idiots, so I'm glad you won't buy the game. Keeps the servers from filling up with retards.
