Well, I went ahead and got HAZE, despite the naysayers, and I have to say it's not as bad as some would let on.
I will point out that the graphics are not up to PS3 standards and really should've been more polished before release. However, once you get over the graphics not being the best "evar," I think HAZE is actually quite fun. The campaign actually has several cool moments and is DEFINATELY better if you have online friends to play with. I'm having a blast, myself. As for the multiplayer modes outside of campaign, I'm still assessing them. The assault mode is pretty cool. I'm not used to the gameplay yet, so it's hard for me to give an honest review on that part of the game in particular. My advice to those who are still undecided, if you have extra game money and you want a game right now AND you have nothing better to buy with said money, g'head and get HAZE. It's fun. It's nothing that will win any awards, but it's still a solid game, I think. There ya have it, gang. My PSN is NESv1 if you want a HAZE friend. =) |

Can you please check if the controls are customizable to the point where you can not just swap the analog sticks around, but can you actually assign the following:
left stick as move forward & back + strafe or sidestep and right stick as look + turn?? ... not as look + strafe or sidestep? In other words, I'd like to swap the turn and strafe functions and NOT keep them assigned to their default set. This could be done in the TimeSplitters series & in modern shooters like Call of Duty 4, or Unreal Tournament 3 (if I recall) I'm online now & will open my copy of the game if this is so. Reply to this forum post directly, please Feel free to add me as my PSN username is the same as here |

I agree with you on that. Haze really wasn't as good as I thought it would be but its a game I don't regret buying at all. Graphics is the only thing that they could have made better with the 6 month delay, but its a good shooter that people should buy or at least rent first.
I hope this doesn't put Free Radical down any and hope they can bounce back and plan a Haze 2 some day. I just might add you guys to enojoy a little Rebel vs Troop match on the PSN. Multi-player is real fun though. PSN is Grishrak |

Ok, just messaged NESv1 and Grisrak over PSN with my control question. Do either of you know if I can map my controls as described above?
Please reply here or online to my PSN username...same as my name here. I really want to play the game but refuse to open it until I know if my control scheme will work (it did on TimeSplitters 2 & 3 + COD4) |

I just put in Haze to try and help you, you can't edit the analog stick movement but you can change anything else in the layout. Oh well I just looked around in the control set up you can swap where the right stick moves and the left moves the camera thats the nearest thing I see right now. |

the framework of haze is quite good. the level design is good, as are the movement and gunplay mechanics. the skeleton is strong, but the body is not.
anyone whos played this game cant help but notice its unfinished. there are some aspects of the game that are simply sloppy, and feel more like a alpha version that was meant to be eventually replaced. all the core mechanics are sound, but everything else looks and feels unfinished. this becomes evident when the campaign glitches s horribly that you have to restart from last checkpoint, or when the level refuses to load at all FRD is capable of so much more, and i cant help but think of awesome haze wouldve been if they were allowed to actually finish it. i wouldve gladly taken another major delay to have been able to play the true finished product. at some point, FRD will be able to talk about why they had to release a game so clearly unfinished. theyve been very open about it in the past, and im much more interested to hear what they really think of haze than any reviewer or forum head here. many people are calling haze bad, buts its actually pretty good considering how unfinished it is |
