It seems from me reading a lot of the forums that people seem to be having trouble being effective using playing dead, though I'd like to point out that I myself find the skill very useful and that it has only failed on me once or twice out of the fifty or so times I've used it. Am I just lucky? or what?
You're not the only one, I'm just in the same case as you. It's working very well for me, and I would just find it very lame to make Mantel soliders unable to shoot rebels while they're playing dead... It would just not make any sense, and people would abuse of the functionnality after that. (i'm talking about this because it's one of the *necessary* changes enounced in one of the list on these boards).
It IS working actually because of the non-total reliability of this action! If rebels were sure to survive playing dead, they would play dead all the time and we'd find mantel dudes waiting 20 secondes behind every corpse to shoot them when they get up.
I think it's very good the way the game is balanced right now. I wouldn't like them to change anything about the core gameplay.
I completely agree! Playing dead has gotten me out of some bad situations! A brilliant skill! I'm actually suprised it works tbh because whenever I play as Mantel, after taking down a rebel I unload a round at the ground just to make sure! lol Though the Mantel sniper is sooo annoying! You don't even have to be good to get kills. I should know, I use it all the time! lol
Well, I have used it in an open area and the troopers could guess but if you make sure they can't see you it can be useful. I've played dead after running into a building. The trooper ran past clueless. I got up and shot the trooper from behind.
What FRD needs to do is have more types of play dead animations, and the normal death animations need to be the exact same. If this was the case, it would really rely on your timing, (if you play dead while they're not shooting it gets kinda obvious that you're playing dead ). But yes i agree, i sometimes laugh at the stupidity of the troopers because i only get shot playing dead 1/4 of the time.
The only thing is...when you're high on necter, you supposedly don't see dead bodies. You should in all seriousness disappear from a mantel troopers vision completely...no corpse, nothing. That being said i do find it quite effective as is. But it's a slight inconsistency.

You do disappear until you get up. But unloading a mag at the ground will still work. And yes playing dead works for me, and you should be able to get killed playing dead. Its hard to kill someone playing dead anyway. When I splitscreen with friends and they play dead on me, its hard for me to find and kill them during this phase... (screenlooking and all, haha)

Usually when i play online (if im a trooper) and i see a rebel FD while im all juiced up, i still see a glowing body...if it's just me im glitched in a very exploitative way =D
I have a very succesful time playing dead overall only been caught out once. I think it is most effective in the objective games than any other game type though.

The problem is you don't drop your weapon when you're playing dead, so in multiplayer an experienced player will know you're not dead at all.
I think its kind of cool that a pro can spot a faker. In the heat of battle I'd say that's a worthy skill. And playing dead should be highly risky... so all is fair game.

100% agreed, it is a risk faining death and if it works great but with a seasoned player who knows the in's and out's it will take a bit more cunning and tactics to use it and when.
