Hi everyone,
Long time follower of this forum, since the early days. I read daily, but this is my first post. I'm a huge fan of FRD and have been following the work of some of the founding partners since GoldenEye. The very week I bought my 360, Haze was announced as a PS3 exclusive. I was a bit bummed out, but I soon became very distracted with the many great shooters that I had at my disposal, like Gears and the CoD games. My take on this whole exclusive thing is that they are clamping down on it being a "PS3 only" title because the release is just around the corner. Rob Yescombe said it himself: They want this title to be the reason why people buy PS3s. If they let us all know it will be on the 360 eventually, obviously 360 owners will just wait. However at this time it does seem like Haze will just be available on the PS3 indefinitely. Ubi, and now FRD, are firmly standing by the "PS3 only" notion. But, I would not be surprised at all if it eventually lands on Microsoft's machine. But it is what it is. If Haze never comes out for the 360, at this stage the PS3 really isn't a bad investment at all - with the recent price drop and blu-ray winning the format war. I want to play Haze and I want to play games by my favorite developer, FRD. So I'll wait a few months after Haze comes out and if there's no word on its release for the 360, I might just set aside some coin and invest in Sony's new machine. But here is a thought that could help persuade 360 owners to hop on the Sony bandwagon: They should consider bundling Haze with the PS3, complete with the DualShock 3 |

Hello and welcome Legacy. Sure people who buy 360 expecting to get haze will be disappointed, I would be too. Although Rob said that it was PS3 only, anything can happen and it can be released later on the 360 maybe fall 2008 or spring 2009.

That's because they're 360 fans. They'll spit on anything that's not on their console. They'll claim that multiconsole games are better for 360, even though i've repeatedly heard that CoD4 and DMC4 are best for ps3. They just want something to justify their "paperweights" See that? EAT IT 360 FANBOYS! At least they'll get Gears 2. You know they'll be claiming that it's "the best game ever", just like they did with Halo 3. I wish I had something good to play on my 360 |

@ Legacy_Player:
I'd agree about the bundle thing - at one point it appeared that this might be on the cards, and who knows? We still don't know the full launch details, and with recent announcements and rumour suggesting PS3 bundles with both GTAIV and MGS4, (probably with DS3's included), it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Haze could end up being bundled too - it would certainly show a big push for the console over that three month period and cover many bases for the PS3. As for your plan, well, it seems a sound one, although if it were me I'd be a little reticent to wait and miss the months of online action and co-op play that Haze has in store. Of course it will still be there later, but there's nothing like being there from the start. Of course, if it does arrive on the 360 eventually then you will be I suppose. Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope you get to play Haze - sooner or later. BTW - happily for Alt-control fans, I can confirm that customisable control options are extensive in Haze. |

Each system has their own weak, and strong points. There is nothing to fight about.

The Bundle would be a great idea, and an even better push for the ps3. And I think you might have to wait a little more than a few months before the 360 version comes out, if it does at all. Due to the act it took FRD 3 years to make Haze period. i know they dropped the 360 and PC versoin but still you looking at 6 months or more before it gets ported/made over for the 360.
But welcome to the forums! |

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
@ deded- You are right that being around from the start would be a lot of fun, with all the excitement surrounding its launch. So if they do end up releasing the bundle, it's much more likely that I'll be there |

i doubt they'll bundle haze with the ps3, since they have already planned the MGS4 bundle for the 80gb in the US and japan, and GT5 for the 40gb in europe. the only bundle i would see are those walmart bundles that let u pick what game u want. but Legacy_Player, just buy a PS3 when u can. i know they will only get cheaper. its only been a year since release, so u dont have to worry about getting a PS3 unless u already have the money to get one

They wont. Haze isn't the most anticipated game wanted by the public. Sorry to say, but it wont happen...
For example when the rumors of MGS4 was out and it was supposedly being the last game in the series, they would bundle it with the PS3 because the series is famous and Sony knows that it will have a high demand. "If games make you violent, does monopoly make you a millionaire?" - ??? |

this was a highly anticipated game, and still is. people just lost interest because it was announced 2 years ago and been delayed 2-3 times, even though people think its been delayed much more.

I tend to agree with you there, mn21.
I think people refocused their attention on games that were actually available during the holidays after Haze was delayed, but it is indeed a very anticipated game. It should be one of the biggest shooters of the year on the PS3... people who are familiar with FRD are obviously very excited about this game, and it's going to attract a lot of attention from other PS3 owners that may be overlooking it at the moment. |

Hah, ive never played a FRD game and im drooling for this game
Anyway on topic i honestly believe that ubisoft left this game to ps3 because most people, (or xbox fan boys from what I've gathered) are claiming that its a rip off of halo. I seriously want to know what they have in common in the slightest except that they wear armor that looks like 2% the same. |

Hmmm...last time i checked, Master Chief didn't use drugs, or fight aliens for that matter.

Master Chief DID fight aliens (the Covenant). I think many Xbox fans are peeved because of the way this whole thing was handled. Speaking for myself as a 360 owner...I was hyped to see this game and would have bought it in a heartbeat. If a game is for one system and one system I can live with that. This whole scenario was different and the initial lack of info (or conflicting PS3 only forever or PS3 for now didn't help). I was seriously considering coughing up the dough for a PS3 until I read the interview with one of developers. His flippant disregard for potential Xbox customers turned ME off. The thought that if people want to play your game they'll buy a system is b.s. It also pains me to hear that Xbox has a,b,c so PS3 should get d. I am of the mindset that we want this game to succeed because honestly it looks smooth as hell. By limiting this to the one system that has 3 or 4 high vis game this year, well somebody will be eating crow and as of right now I hope its FRD for making this piss poor marketing decision. Again I'm not hating the game but I feel this whole thing went down WRONG and I don't believe that's the way to succeed in ANY business. FRD should have left this multi console or at least kept what system it was going to secret. If no one knew where it was going until it was announced than no "feelings" could be hurt.

My mistake, I meant Shane didn't fight aliens.

So were you just as angry at the flippant disregard for the PS3 that has been so rampant in the industry?

Arabus07, the whole point of exclusives are to raise the sales of their system. u shouldnt get mad because they want to steal your money, because all companies do that. i admit the whole confusion with the exclusivity was annoying, but that was Ubisoft's decision. free radical wanted to make this game for the PS3 because they are accustomed to the PS2. Ubisoft probably saw this game as a cash cow and called it exclusive for the PS3. free radical also will make this game even better because they dont have to worry about going multiplatform. but u never know what will happen in the future, so maybe this game will be ported

I can understand Arabus' point of view to an extent, but it is predicated on the idea that Haze will never come to other systems, which we don't know for certain. That's not to say the devs or Ubi are keeping that to themselves - it may not have been decided yet, or might be decided but a later decision taken which changes that - but that it's hardly a unique situation in the industry and it has happened to more PS3 titles than it has to 360 titles so far.
And the idea that people will buy a system to play a game is not b.s - to buy it for one game, perhaps, (dependant on the game), but for several games that you can't get anywhere else? That's why people buy one system over another, and it's a fact of the industry I'm afraid. |

LOLMy 2 cents: Arabus07 I think you took what one of the dev's said wrong. All the while they've been saying that they want this game to be the reason people buy a ps3 or that this is the game you think of when you think ps3. Or you saw one of Rob Yescombe's many sarcastic interviews; but that's just me. |

No I think I took what the developer said the way he meant it. I think there are many games that would cause one to purchase a system BUT it usually has the play value to back it up. For me....being a PS One fanatic I was sold on the PS2 based on loyality. Ironically the Xbox won me out with the (in my opinion) better choice of games: KOTOR and other SW games being the main push. I finally got a PS2 last year and got to catch up on the Ratchet series, God of War, and a few others. It was the multiple offerings for PS2 that finally made me take the plunge and I knew all the games I wanted were exclusive to Sony. Do I think Haze could be the game that pushes PS3 to the top....not really and as I've said before I think this game is smooth as hell. Whether the developer meant to or not his statement (again to me)was in poor taste and arrogant for a game that has a)been delayed for almost a year and b) not been played/reviewed in it's completed form. I remember when Killzone was touted as the Halo killer...even I was like damn I need to get a PS2 and play that. We all know how that ended up. Will the same happen here...we'll see but FRD has put alot of eggs in one basket due to developer "prejudice".
PS3 was dismissed due to its poor launch: poor games, high price point....who is the blame for that?? Again I'm not bashing the system or its owners but can anyone argue that the Sony heads didn't make quite a few crappy decisions and are just NOW 2 years later getting things right hence peoples flippant attitude towards the PS3. That however is not issue. Again to me the issue is the poor way this whole thing was handled. I wish the game the best....I wish that because maybe it will get ported over to Xbox. If it doesn't I still will get a PS3 eventually...maybe when I get back from Afghanistan. Hell maybe I'll even get Haze but I'll say this as of right now I'll get it used at Gamestop and give my money to them. |
