I hope not. Considering I just purchased it for 20 bucks, brand new. I know its not a stellar game, mediocre at best, the "so bad its good" kind of quality. I'd hate to see it tank right now, though I'm sure sales wise it has.
This title, no matter what you think about it, is still a headscratcher. I can't believe these are the same guys to come up with Timesplitters. They just don't seem to be remotely the same quality, attention to detail or just about anything else. It is absolutely ridiculous in many ways. I guess every company, sooner or later, drops the ball, and this is without a doubt one of those titles.
But I'd hate to see them kick it while its down. I think if they continued to support it here and there, perhaps patch it, even now, with minor bug fixes, it will leave a less sour taste in the mouth. I'm only into the 2nd chapter, and yes, its bland in a fun sort of way, but I can see through and see some of its potential.
Hopefully the next one will be released when its READY. Take a note from Blizzard, baste it in talent and don't release it until its done. but hey, don't let your own title fall into obscurity too, I think you guys (Free Radical) could undo some damage by still supporting this game as much as possible.
Well, I research all my titles before purchasing and new what i was getting into, but I do find the game to be fun. I understand where the reviewers were coming from, and to some degree they came on a little strong, but there are definately quirks and weird design decisions in this game that almost feel. . . amateurish? So, it's just strange.
but hey, I"m enjoying it, and can't wait to do the co-op later this week. Its pretty much the only reason why I bought it, love co-op FSP games. and for less then 20 bucks, brand new, it was worth it.
Having played now to the 3rd level. . . I see where the reviewers are coming from.
Damn I'm glad I only paid less then 20 bucks for this. It's still fun, in a goofy way, but damn is it glitchy, and sometimes just trying to find out "where to go" is a mystery. VERY confusing level design. I think they handed this game to their "newbie" team, who clearly do not know how to make a level streamlined and give you a sense of direction. Co-op can be fun, if one side of the screen is not flickering or doing something "strange", glitches and twitches I've never seen my PS3 do before. . .clear sign of a horrible game.
Don't get me wrong, it has its moments, and is fun to play in a "bad" way, but wow, I just can't believe, still, that Free Radical did this. Are they sure it wasn't PlaySkool that did it?
However, I played, co-op last night, now as a rebel, instead of "mantel" and had a pretty good time. It seems the pace is better, and the game more fun as the rebels, then dealing with the nectar, and its malfunctions during gameplay.
This is where the game gets some things right. The idea of stealing weapons, modding grenades, setting traps and so forth, these were fun ideas, its just too bad early on they weren't implemented as well. Nevertheless, the game is more enjoyable now as the other faction, and battling co-op style on the beach, through the beached tanker, then into the hotel was a lot of fun. I'm not more interested then I was before. Though, I'm sorry, some of the level design is pretty confusing at times. . .I wonder what the game testers felt playing this?

Agreed. The beginning of the game is a little off-putting. Espcially with the voice acting of the troopers that you fight alongside with. After becoming a rebel the game takes a whole new outlook and the story starts to actually captivate.
Played it some more last night, and 3 hours went by without even noticing it.
Stormed the Observatory, and still working through the main story, but, I have to say, its turning out to be a pretty cool experience. Generic in some way? Sure. But the level of difficulty was pretty thrilling last night as we busted it co-op. I still find myself slightly confused on which "direction" to go, but all I can think of, is wow, this game would be even more fun with 4 player co-op.
Regardless, I did have one freeze up last night, but haven't experienced anything else game "crashing". All I can say is, they got it right with the Rebels, and the game has great replay value with the optional 4 player co-op, and the fairly open levels, empty houses to run into, really make it more thrilling and fun to engage random Mantel troops. Was it worth 20 bucks? Hell yes.
Still on the fence though on whether or not to purchase additional map packs. It appears they may not keep the servers up and running. . . for now, I"m going to hold out. But I'm looking forward to playing again this evening.
Lots of fun. Crashed twice on me throughout the whole experience. . .not much else to report. But, it was fun. Really enjoyed the co-op support, but yeah, not bad. Quirks here and there, and over the top, and poorly written dialogue, but still fun.
Please let me know if the servers shut down permanently. That will be the day I file a claim against Sony with my credit card company. I paid for the expansion pack just to support HAZE. If you got the expansion pack too, you should do the same. We paid for the expansion pack, they cannot cancel it on us without refunding us(at least that's what I tell myself ). Protest, raise your voice!
I still play I've got Warhawk but I don't like that auto aim crap it takes the skill out..I bought Resistance 2 & Fallout 3 they're KEWL..But I still like Haze...I'm thinking of getting COD WaW however I like split screen online games..
Whoa, it's been a while. I my honest opinion, to many Haze may be dead, but I played it last night and had some fun. Most people play it only when they are with people they actually know.
"If games make you violent, does monopoly make you a millionaire?" - ???
i thought haze is dead but after 4-5 months not playing due to the reseting leaderboard / online stats problems. my friend anonymous109 forced me to play HAZE again, now i'm addicted to it again!!!! bad influence i'm getting close to be prestige in COD:WAW now i left it all behind.
