Stuck at this point. I shut off the fans to the vent but can't find the access point to the vent---any help please

It's near the sentry gun, requiring the *shudder* man ladder to get to the fan. In my playthrough we found the vent early and Lambert called us nuts for attempting to walk through a functioning fan.
