unfortunately my old thread had some pretty cool songs added but it got deleted in either the last hack or the one about a month before that, i can't even remember any more, so here's a quick summary.
basically, this thread is for you to link to songs which are, firstly, amazing (use legal streaming sites like www.youtube.com or www.deezer.com). now, we've all heard 'back in black' before and put it on our iPods so none of that please; the second important thing is that the song also has to be obscure. then hopefully we can all discover some great songs we've never heard before and perhaps some whole new bands or even genres. also feel free to talk about your favourite music here. |

right then i'll start it off with these beauties:
Swallow - My Bloody Valentine http://www.deezer.com/track/21064 Pretty much their best song not on their magnum opus Loveless, this was released on the great EP 'tremolo'. it features indian influences which is unheard of for MBV really, and the melody is brill. trippy coda at the end, too. the genre's called shoegaze and although small and very unknown it has some of the greatest music ever recorded. MBV reunited after about 16 years this year and are releasing an album which is fantastic, although their leader Kevin Shields is a notorious perfectionist and a bit crazy, it could well be many years before it's released. Heaven or Las Vegas - Cocteau Twins http://www.deezer.com/track/4502 more shoegaze, i discovered this a few days ago and it's truly incredible, i'll listen to some more of these guy's stuff and keep you posted. Elephant Stone - Stone Roses http://www.deezer.com/track/631685 these guys sparked off bands like blur and oasis but they're truly in a league of their own with melodic gifts rivalling the mastery of the beatles. this song is one of their best and a great example, incredible really. google the single cover and see if you recognise it. your turn.  |

Anybody know of Jerk it Out and Cobrastyle, they're like one of those songs that are really good but you have no idea what the heck it is.

I've heard of him before. Still, the only song I heard from him is the Rick Roll song, Never Going to Give you Up, but I heard it before the Rick Roll era.
Mr. Dark: That's why, I don't trust most links about songs if they don't have names on them. Back in Vietnam - Lenny Kravitz The song sounds good but it's demeaning to us Vietnamese people, the dude thought the Vietnam War was America vs. Vietnam, idiot. That wasn't the Vietnam War, I take this song as offensive because he said this: Men women children will die we're all in this together. So yeah, he mentions he will kill all men, women, and children in Vietnam which obviously means he doesn't care who's communist or terrorist, he's going kill them all, and I don't like that, why? I'm freaking Vietnamese (born in the USA, but to full Vietnamese immigrant parents). |

alright, some of my favourite music.
pendulum; i really like them, but no-one i know has ever heard of them. they're doing alright in the uk, but i don't think they're really that well known. some of my favourites: The Tempest; it takes about two minutes before the really cool bit comes. The Other Side again, abit slow to get into it. then there's propane nightmares, showdown, mutiny and granite, which are also good, but i can't be bothered linking them all.
