hi on start sorry about may englisch it will be hard to tell... ive just star may adventure with myst... its real good game and i whish to know whole story about this world... but i stucked in the spaceship i cant do this puzzle may petient is end i tray do this whery slowly meny times dosent work so meybe someone plesae give the way from down untli the moment where i should stop in cm... just put linie to your monitor and write how meny cm there is... (for example 3cm)...

already i tried to do this its quite hard becouse no one can exacly count numbers from down to up im gona tray to do this but its to hard to do there is no fun becouse you need lucky not hard thinking... i dont like cheting but im ready to cheat and skip this stupid quest... im scared what gona be in the next part of the game

The first time you enter the Spaceship, the object of solving the sounds puzzle is to make the Myst linking book appear, which you then use to get to the Selenitic Age. So, if you want to finish the game, you can not skip this puzzle.

Don't give up. It took me about 40 tries before I solved the puzzle (by counting the notes). You can solve it, too - keep trying!

BTW, you count from the bottom position and from the left, counting the bottom as one.

I'm confused about this "counting from the bottom". What do you mean? I have piano experience, and I tried playing the notes as indicated in the book from the library. First 1-5, then 5-1. But nothing happened. (I noticed that the tones were wrong for the location of the keys; it didn't sound the same as if you played it on a real keyboard.) Am I too smart for my britches?

Go to the keyboard and play the note numbered 1 in the sketch. Either memorize its pitch, or count how many keys (black + white) it is from the left hand side of the keyboard.
Move to the control panel. Move the leftmost slider up until you hear the same tone, or carefully count the number of units (tones) you move up. You can go back and forth a few times to verify.

Then go to the keyboard and play the note labeled 2. This time, use the second slider from the left on the control panel to set the same note.

Repeat for the other three tones / sliders. Then press the big slider on the right.
