I never played myst, but I heard it has a fixed view. Does this mean you can't look around you at all, or just limited? and if so, in what way is it limited?
The original Myst (and the later revision Myst: Masterpiece Edition) is presented at a slide show: you look at a more or less fixed image (there may be some moving elements in it). When you move the mouse pointer to the side of the image, it turns into a left-pointing or right-pointing or backwards-pointing hand, indicating that when you click, a new slide will be displayed showing a view rotated 90 or 180 degrees. You can also move the mouse pointer to the top or bottom of the image, and in a few places it will turn into an upwards or downwards pointing hand.
Riven works the same way (but with more places where you can look left and right).
Much later realMyst was made, which uses a 3D engine that is a precursor of the one used in Uru and Myst V: End of Ages. You can move and look around freely in this version.
