Ok...Ok calm down...heres my story...Oh well,my backround... When I was...I think 6 I went through our CDs next to the computer...I looked at it...Myst it said on the front...The Surealistic Adventure That Will Become Your World it said on the front...I was born to play Myst...(true story, actually) Ok I played Myst a very long time ago and got all the answers, but there were two ages I COULD NOT GET PAST!!! I actually did very well for a six-year-old...but then our stupid Windows 95 started crashin and junkin up...that was the end of Myst..until now...I`m currently playing on my Windows XP and doing fine. I threw out the answer sheet I made because I thought I was done with Myst...and here I am stuck in one of the two very same ages from earlier. The spaceship music age place...I`ve gotten all the sound recorders turned off right now...I set the main place thingys to the right places and they picked up each sound fine-but now I`m at the door...I know how to get through!Its just its NOT working. I put it in the correct order(i guess left to right from the main place thingy-water,volcano,clock,crystal things,and then wind last) then I play it. Nuttin. I expect the door to go up after I play it, but it doesn`t...I got past this part when I was 6, so why not now?! Cheers P.S. I`ll propably have another post for the submarine thing on the track past the door(thats where I got stuck when I was little). Reply as soon as possible!!!Thank you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi everyone I'm back. I just found a Uru Live acceptance email finally in 2007. I havent checked my email in a while . In Live I'm Yogayoda in Lofre's Bevin.
No I got it I had the wrong order-now I`m in...the submarine....grrr please tell me what the @%#*&$!^ this part is about. I see that there is always a west east northeast southwest and so on way to go each time. but which way do I choose. When I was six I would just try different ways for hours... I`m fully prepared for a SPOILER!!!! Cheers
My solution for the train thing was to make a map as I went along. That way I could go to a dead end and just back up to where I had turned or whatever. Then I chose the other direction and followed it until another dead end, etc. This map will allow me to quite and restart without retrying all the options nor rely on my memory. Eventually I got to the far end of the ride. Now I can replay the ride anytime I want.
There is also something that some folks think is better and that is sounds. Each station arrives with a BINK, or BOINK, or DING, or a couple other sounds. You have to have a good memory of the sounds a there is no map produced for future playbacks.
Getting through it with sound is actually faster than doing so with a map, because it's easy to map each sound to a direction.. the start of the maze is limited enough in where you can go that each sound associates with only one direction. Try it sometime, Bob .
FYI - the sounds for directions are consistant throughout the game. That is, the "clink" that means "north" in the Selenic Age will mean "north" in the other age (ages?) where you use sound to find direction.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
SPOILERS: You can play back each sound by pushing the red button on the "speaker" to the left of the submarine console, so that is a "map" sort-of. It is easy to realize that each sound is associated with a specific direction early in the maze. You only need to describe four sounds for yourself, this is not nearly as hard as many people make it to be, and MUCH easier than mapping the whole maze.
