I'm trying to run Myst, the Masterpiece Edition one. It installs just fine. But then I double-click on the icon and all that happens is that I get the hourglass symbol for a few seconds . . . and that's it! The screen stays on my desktop.

If I go into Task Manager, I do see "Myst" there (slowing down my computer to a grind), but nothing visibly happens to show that the game's started.

I'm running Windows XP and I have one gig of RAM. Heeelp!

Welcome to the forums!

I think you'll have to run Myst MasterPiece Edition in Windows 95 or Windows 98 compatibility mode.
Right click the shortcut you use to start MME, and select Properties from the popup menu.
Activate the Compatibility tab.
Tick the first check box.
Select Windows 95 or Windows 98/Windows ME from the dropdown list.
Tick the 'Disable visual themes' and "Disable advanced text services" check boxes.
Click OK.

Note: I'd restart your PC before trying MME again.
