Hi, I'm playing realMyst and now I'm stuck in the clocktower. I've solved the puzzle(2:40 and 221), the big gear has been half opened. I can see a book inside the gear but I can't touch it. Does anybody have any idea of this weird problem? Thank you for your help!

How close can you get to the book?

I think I'm close enough cause I can't move closer, but the cursor is always the normal one above the book so I can't do nothing to the book. Maybe it's a compatible problem with my system. BTW, I have the same "white page crash" problem as other players met. I checked the movies, that crash occurs between page1sthalf.bik and page2ndhalf.bik. I've upgraded bink player to the up-to-date version. It's no use. Sigh!

bobby, I am curious. You titled this thread "stuck in the clocktower". Where are you exactly when you try and touch the book?

Actually, the title should be "stuck inside the clocktower". I think it's a compatible problem.

The linking book you need is not inside the clock tower. Have you looked to see if something changed elsewhere on Myst island?

Thank you! How stupid I am. There's still no solution for "white page crash". I think that's really a compatible problem.

What version are you using of Myst? Original CD, 10th Anniversary Edition DVD, or RealMyst CD? What platform are you on, PC, MAC, X-Box? I have played all the versions I listed above on the PC and haven't run into the white page crash. Oh, if on a PC what version of Windows? I turned on notifications so I will hopefully respond quicker.
