I'm having problems rotating the island in the mechanical age. I've spent hours and I can only get to the south side (the dong sound) and to the east side (the spring sound).
The simulator works fine and it makes all 4 sounds, but in the elevator part it just goes back and forth between south and east and that is it. It just refuses to rotate to neither the north side (the ding sound) nor the west side (the chirp).
I'm not sure if it's something I am doing wrong or if it's a problem with the game and my computer.
Hi Cardula, Are you holding the lever down long enough before letting go. If you let go lever to soon, it will go back to last position. Hold lever until it just gets past the position you want and then let go. It takes a little practice.
I did end end up getting it to work in the end, with much frustration...I never did get it to rotate west (not that it matters), but the two times that I actually DID get it to face North, if I even moved the left level up then back down, the tower would then be facing south again. That's right, the tower would move back to its default position without use of the right level at all!!
Has this strange phenomenon happned to anyone else? Even though I was able to get all the clues and finish the Mecanical Age, I'm still left scratching my head about this one.
Yes, my wife and I are having the same problem with the Myst: Masterpiece Edition from the 10th anniversary dvd's. Tried tech support, and they told us to check tips, hints and walkthroughs. I've played this game many times before (with other versions) and have never had this problem! We're kind of glad we're not the only ones, but disappointed that nobody helped you out with yours. Let's see if anyone else has had the problem. I'll let you know if I solve it, if you let us know how you solved it.
