I've been unable to get Myst III running tonight under Windows XP. I say tonight because my husband swears he installed and played it a couple months ago on this computer. Since then, the only thing we can think of that has changed is that he upgraded to the latest DirectX version.
We'll probably just wander over to Game Stop tomorrow and try to pick up a 10th anniversary edition, but if anyone has any tips besides setting the compatiblity mode of the .exe file, I'd love to try them. The game seems to install fine, but then when the executable is clicked, the first splash screen comes up and then it all goes away - no error, no nothin. I tried both typical and full install.
