It's been years since I last played with RealMyst and decided to try it on my Intel iMac to some great results! But every time I quit the game or try to save one, the same message "application quit unexpectedly" appears and erases the game right back to the beginning; it's impossible to save anything. Was there a patch introduced in the last years I could have missed? Any other explanations?

I installed realMYST on a borrowed Intel iMac this afternoon. I was able to save a game, then quit, start, and load that game successfully. Then I did it again. Mind you, I barely left the dock on Myst Island, so it wasn't exactly a thorough test.
Are you launching the game from the CD? The realMYST FAQ on MacPlay's website mentions that doing so causes a crash while saving a game.
There is a patch you can download. It might be worth trying but I didn't need it for my brief test.
Thanks for the info Ron. I've downloaded the patch and will try it this afternoon. And you are right: I was starting from the CD. I guess that will fix it for me.
