RE: the patch for Windows XP

I was wondering what issues the patch solves.
What kind of glitches do you experience without the patch?
If I don't need to install it I don't think I will.

The version 1.11 patch is for the PC version of realMyst only.

Do you have the PC version of realMyst?

Yes, it's the PC version.

I just loaded it on my laptop with XP and if I shrink down the resolution it seems to play fine with just a minor amount of stalling.
I haven't played much though and was wondering where the glitches might come into effect.

The realMyst version 1.11 patch contains all of the fixes from the version 1.1 patch, as well as resolving an issue with the slider bars in the realMyst setup program. Note that the international (non-US) version of realMyst is NOT compatible with the version 1.11 patch!

Issues resolved by the version 1.1 patch:
-- Sound plays on both sides without separation in some scenarios, such as the ship rising out of the water in the Pillar Walkway.
-- You cannot strafe from the number pad.
-- On Myst Island, the game crashes in the Generator Room.
-- In Sirrus and Achenar room 3 of the Stoneship Age, running under the door results in no way to escape from the room.
-- In the Channelwood Age, you can fall out of the window that has no walkway.
-- Closing the Spaceship door on Myst Island causes the inside of the Spaceship to disappear.
-- In the Selentic Age, running underneath the door with the green button causes the door to close and the room to turn black.
-- The Esc key pauses the game and goes to the Main Menu, but pressing Esc again does not re-enter the game. Instead, you return to the Main Menu.
-- In the Mechanical Age, buttons on the podium that open the linking room door have stripes on them.
-- In the Planetarium when the background is the Clock Tower side, clicking the Up direction switches causes the background to flash and display a corrupt graphic.
-- On the Myst Island dock, a flash of white occurs when clicking on the door to the Digital Imager.
-- You can move through the island when exiting the Tree Elevator, which should not be possible. A flash of white may also occur.
-- In the Rime Age at the top of the elevator, the tip of the red button can be seen through the wall.
-- In the Stoneship Age, you may fall into the floor at the door of the linking room.

You're welcome!

Don't overlook the New Features of the Version 1.1 Patch - Advanced Options/Setup Options. Problems aside, you might want to apply the patch to have these options available!
