Hello, i hope someone can help me.
I'm italian and i do not speak english very well. I see in some images, Xana model in-game. How is possible? there is a mod that create a model in the game like xana? if so, where can i find it? thanks, bye |

Download Source SDK from steam;
download v2.0 of the .NET Framework from Microsoft; download GCFScape from Nem's site. Launch Source SDK > Model Viewer and enjoy Xana in all her poses and moves... |

I forgot two passages... Before launching Source SDK, launch GCFScape and extract the folder model\npc\xana from mm_models_pub.gcf file AND the folders materials\models\npc_xana_demon and materials\models\npc_xana from mm_materials_b_pub.gcf file. Put those folders in your half-life 2 folder. When you start Source SDK select half-life 2 as current game |

Thanks a lot, i've done all the things that you suggest.
So now i have source SDK. i have some problems starting directly Source SDK, so i double-click on hlmv in the half life directory. now i have model viewer opened, i can see for example alyx with textures and all her movements, and i can load xana models finally. the problem is that the model don't have the textures, and also the animation. i have extracted all the folders that you tell me. there is a way to load textures and animations eparately? thanks a lot, bye! |

I've just done it... it works for me.
you must have: \half-life 2\hl2\models\npc\xana folder and \half-life 2\hl2\materials\models\npc_xana_demon and \half-life 2\hl2\materials\models\npc_xana folders. What's your problem with SDK? |

so i have to put those 3 folders in any of the folders inside half life 2?
like bin\xana etc... or models\xana etc...^??? or i have to put in a specific folder? thanks a lot, i need olny this, i will solve later the problem with SDK |

In order to use properly the Source SDK you must understand the Source game files structure.
Valve software In your case the right files structure is: "Steamdir"\SteamApps\"userdir"\half-life 2\hl2\models\npc\xana "Steamdir"\SteamApps\"userdir"\half-life 2\hl2\materials\models\npc_xana "Steamdir"\SteamApps\"userdir"\half-life 2\hl2\materials\models\npc_xana_demon where Steamdir is the folder you installed steam to and userdir is your steam account name. |

i do not have my account folder inside steam folder. so i create it like you said. also i put xana's folders inside the directory of half life 2, like where is Alyx's files.
the result of this hell is that i can see xana with her textures, in normal and demon form, but i cannot see the animation of the body. indeed i can see the animation of the face... i'll try to fix it... my love is so hard to find... bye edit: i remove che folders that i create in steam, and it also works. so it seems that model viewer do not need those folders. it use only the xana's files that i put in half life 2 folder. but i cannot see the animation of the body... |

Arkane edited the Source code for models with animations.
Xana is only used for cutscenes in game too, so she hasn't animations like run, dodge and so on as other npcs have. AFAIK You can only view anims playing with the cursor in model viewer. |

i try to use the animation file of leanna for xana, but it seems it doesn't work.
the only thing that i can do is to change her face, with smiles and something like that in the "flex" window. and i can move the upper body in another window. so i'm ask how some peoples do images like leanna that hold xana, the player that hold xana. in both images, xana is in a position that i cannot do with model viewer. there is a section of model viewer where i can modify the position of bones, but i cannot do for 2 bones at the same time. i'll look on internet for a guide, thanks for everything |
