Hey everyone,
Had the day off today, so i thought i'd pop down to the local Westfields. Spotted the PC version of Tom Clansy's EndWar and thought what the hell! The game installed with no issues. Starting it is a totally different story. Everytime I try to start the game. I get the update download manager and I get as far as the first logo/intro before the game just crashes. My machines specs are: C2D E8400 @ 3.00GHz 4GB Ram (3.25GB available) ATI 4870 512MB Windows XP Pro SP2 I have about 27 games installed at the moment. COD 4, COD WOW, Crysis, Fallout 3, Red Alert, Far Cry 2, STALKER - anyways you get the picture. Every one of the games I have listed works and plays well. Not quite sure what might be wrong with EndWar. I have tried updating the ATI Catalyst drivers with no luck. Tried turning the firewall off on a few occasions to see whether that might be an issue with no luck. Do any of you guys have any other ideas? Paid close to $90 for the game. Would love to be able to give it a run sometime soon. Any helps appreciated. Cheers! - Evil |

Well that's not at all surprising, considering how buggy the console versions are.
And with XP, not ****ty vista no less? Only advice I could give is to reinstall, if you haven't already tried to no avail. Also try posting in the new PC general discussion forum, more likely to be read by someone with a solution for you. |

Hey mate,
Cheers for the reply and yeahhhh. I've already tried reinstalling twice with no luck. Pretty annoyed so far. Apart from EndWar, every other damn game runs fine. Have no idea what the issue would be and I ain't reformatting my machine just to get one game running. Funny thing is though, I did ask the EB rep whether he knew if the game was a decent console port. The bloke told me he didn't know, took the chance anyways. I guess you live and learn. No more console ports for me from now on. Just hope someone can shed some light on whats happening in the future. Otherwise the box is a pretty poor $90 paper weight. lol Cheers again mate, - Evil |

Exactly same problem here (almost same configuration, XP SP3). I tried game on my office machine (same as mentioned) and it works so it must be some registry/software conflict. But it is almost impossible to detect what could be wrong. BTW game crash after intro, it shows "create profile screen" for about millisecond and then CTD. My experience tells me that only formatting HD can solve this. As I said before, tried game on my other comp. and thrust me it is not worth it
