So far I'm pretty disappointed with End War for one reason: the offical PS3 headset. I tried going through the voice calibration and I have to yell to even get it to hear me. I tried going into the XMB and turning up sensitivity but that doesn't seem to change anything.
I don't know if this is a problem with End War or with the the headset, but since I bought it bundled with End War I'm filing my complaint here. I can play the game using voice commands to an extent, but it screws them up a lot, likely because it can't hear me properly (no, I don't have an accent, I'm from the midwest). It's very frustrating. I bought the bundled package figuring I'd get a headset that worked really well. If I thought it was going to be a problem I'd have just gone to a cell phone store and bought something seperately. Any advice on how I can fix this other than duct taping the damn mic to my face so it's loud enough? |

Turn of HQ mode if it's active.
Otherwise, delete the mic from your list of recognized audio devices, then reconnect it by holding down the power button for a long time until the mic alternates red and green lights. Then search for it under the register audio devices section, enter the code 0000, and then try using it. |

I agree I bought the bundle for the PS3 headset that way I would not have pair my cell phone headset to the PS3, but the PS3 one does not work at all, any my cell phone bluetooth I can only get abouth 1/2 the commands working properly, so for me the voice command is useless, and that one of the reasons I wanted to play this came... SO UBISOFT you need to get this corrected. |

The headset that comes with EndWar is the Official Sony PS3 Bluetooth Headset but I personally don't know much about the PS3 headset. First up, EndWar, make sure the Voice Command setting is set to Standard and not Lite. After some hunting, I have hopefully found something to help. This is via the PlayStation.com Boards.
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/messa...ps3&thread.id=898874 Setup A Bluetooth headset has to be registered, or "paired", with your PS3 before it can be used. Make sure your Bluetooth headset is fully charged before you begin. Check your headset instructions for entering "pairing mode". Activate your headsets' "pairing mode" so it can be recognized by the PS3. On the Cross Media Bar (or XMB) of the PS3 go to the "Settings" tab, then down into "Accessory Settings", then down into "Manage Bluetooth Devices". With your headset in pairing mode, follow the onscreen instructions and let the PS3 scan for your headset. When your headset is found, follow the prompts and enter a pass key (if necessary- the default is usually 0000 for all brands). The pairing should now be complete. Mic Test and Volume Setting After pairing a Bluetooth headset, or after plugging in a USB (wired) headset, return to the XMB. Go to "Accessory Settings" and choose "Audio Device Settings". You can test your headset here. Your headset should appear as the audio input/output device. If not, just use the D-pad to highlight the Input line, then scroll until you see yours. Any microphone you have used with your PS3 will be listed, but only the current one will be available to select. Set the "Microphone Level" to 4. You can change the level any time if needed. Speak into the headset, and the level bar at the top of the screen should move at the sound of your voice. You can also view a list of Bluetooth accessories you have registered in the "Manage Bluetooth Devices" tab under "Settings". If your mic doesn't appear there then try pairing it again. There are more ways to configure the audio input and output that can be useful: Set the input to (your mic) and leave the output on (default)- one person can chat with the other players, and the replys will play over your TV speakers rather than into your mic. Great when sharing one console because everyone can hear the team talk. Set the input and output to (default)- you will hear the game sound and voice chat through your TV speakers but won't be able to talk back. Great if you don't have a headset, or if you want the room to hear the team chat. Set the output to (default) to use stereo headphones with your TV or receiver. Then set the input to (your mic) and you can chat while wearing stereo headphones. Keeping the mic close to your face could be a problem since both ears are already taken! You could try a USB desktop mic and see if that works. I will add info on that as it comes in. In Game XMB: All of the functions in Audio Device Settings are available when using the XMB via the PS button during a game. You can set the input/output, mic level, and device. You can test your mic, and pair a new BT headset while in game. There is much more on troubleshooting in the linked thread above, so hopefully that will help. Please post here again if it gets sorted. |

How does one turn it off? |

Well I have the same problem here. The official headset just won't work proberbly.
If I sync/pair the headset with the USBCable the voice recognition is 5yellow bars at best. The only way to get some blue bars without yelling is when I nearly put the headset in my mouth. The Microphone level do nothing. But if I pair the headset with the "hold power button"-method. The headset picks up my voice loud and clear and the microphone level have an effect on the input. But this just lasts until I turn the headset off, after that its back to yellow bars and yelling. But still while having the headset paired via the power button method and blue bars are showing without problems. The game just understands 50% of the commands most problems with the words "Alpha" "Bravo" "zulu" "two". When I connect the playstaition 3 eye and use it as a microphone, the voice is always at an optimum level even if its further away than my headset. With the ps3eye the game understands 98% of my commands. It is sad to pay extra for the included headset which doesn't even work proberbly with the game (sorry for my english its not my native tounge) |

I don't have the new ps3 mic but I do have the MGS mic and that mic will not pick up a command if its life depended on it, I bought the MGS because my old warhawk mic the plastic broke and the ring wont go around my ear, but I decided to use the warhawk mic anyway for now since it can capture commands very clearly and actually has a clue to what I'm saying

The PS3 bluetooth headset that came bundled with the game works great for me. I have no problems at all and the reception is extremely clear.
I had some issues with the unit twelve commands but it works fine now, i just articulate it better lol... (never did the voice trainer either... don't fix what ain't broken!) |

This is so disapointing, I have been really looking forward to some RTS on my PS3. I researched bluetooth headsets for ages reading every review I could find and all my research lead me to the official PS3 headset as the best choice.
I have exactly the same problem in Endwar. I have to hold it right in front of my mouth for my commands to be picked up by the game. Why would such incompatible hardware be bundled with the game. Im sure both products work well but together they seem useless... |

None of the solutions suggested here make any difference for me. has anyone found a solution yet other than holding it in front of your mouth and yelling?
Why wouldn't they test this before bundling it with the game. Thay can't have tested it as it simply doesn't work... |

I find that the suggestion with synching the mic WITHOUT the USB cable (through discovery) works. However you must do this before each time you play.

I found my headset was too quiet. I recived mine bundeld with SOCOM. I deleted the pairing. Turned off the PS3/ I then started over again and repaired the device. I then set the gain to 4 and everything works fine.
I used the 'normal' bluetooth pairing mechanism, and not the USB method. |

I wasnt sure how to pair the official headset at first, as there are no instructions(nice one Sony). I did the following:
-add headset to PS3 using USB cable. Once done, it stays paired, even after PS3 shutdown. -set microphone to level 5 -leave HQ on default. The voice commands work consistently for me. |

I have this SAME EXACT problem. I paired it through discovery mode first, and I have been loud and clear, I never knew about the USB mode. So, I paired it with USB mode, and now I need to yell to hear anything, changing the volume number in audio device settings does not do anything at all, it's not that it doesn't go high enough, it simply does not affect the volume at all. This is really annoying, you'd think if Sony made a headset specifically designed for the PS3, it would be worry-free. Ugh. I miss my Xbox 360 more every day. |
