A player named EFEC Commander is exploiting the game to exercise dirty tactics and deliberately murder units.
What he does is trigger DEFCON for the enemy by capturing Uplinks, then constantly evacuate units in Conquest mode to reverse DEFCON to his control due to a loss of reserves, then EW units, and drop a WMD on them, then evacuate and deliberately lose the game. Therefore, DEFCON for Conquest mode needs to be reworked so that the only way to access a WMD is by loss of Uplinks, not loss of units. Loss of units to trigger DEFCON is best left to Assault-styled games. I highlight this because if this tactic is continually exercised, people will grow greatly frustrated with this product and stop playing altogether. This tactic is not exercised in the spirit of the game, and will greatly discourage people from playing the game, as they will question if their opponent is merely interested in degrading their experience. It's bad enough this game is wrought with dashboarders and those who abort their matches early. In light of this, I ask my 4 units killed as a result of these tactics be reset to their previous ranks, especially considering that I have worked for several months to get them promoted to where they once were: They are as follows: Taipan (Gunships): Veteran Bigguns (Artillery): Veteran Slammer (Tanks): Veteran Two Pair (Engineers): Elite This message has been edited. I'm not hugely sympathetic. While I agree that the tactic is not good sportsmanship, neither is air-striking a downed unit, EMP+WMD, or deliberately firing on downed units just for fun. Unit killing *is* part of the game, and with good reason. The problem with it is that it is incredibly unbalanced (it's too easy to unit kill, and takes too long to rank back up especially when promotions don't stick because one side or the other has an AI--can anyone say "horrible bug?") and leads to poor sportsmanship on maps where one side has a decisive advantage. Sounds like this guy has found a way to use the game mechanics to level the playing field with the opposing side. If you don't like his tactics, just avoid him in TOW when you can.
Personally, I now refuse to play on maps where the other side has enough of an advantage to make massive quantities of unit killing easy. For example, I actively avoid defending Paris because it's the only capital that favors the attackers rather than the defenders, and because playing a siege mission against upgraded JSF units with no possibility of evac is just not my idea of fun. I'm sure this results in longer wait times for opposing teams, and less fulfilling games when they do get matches because someone finally hit Quick Match. Maybe sitting in the lobby for an hour or so between matches will teach people the value of good sportsmanship. If not, well, at least they'll be playing someone else. The bottom line is that I don't see your frustration with a tactic that has the same result as the unit killing I'm sure that you generally employ when you're winning a map as being any less valid as a strategy. Unless you've sworn off unit killing forever, I just don't think you've got the moral high ground here. |

I HAVE sworn off unit-killing! The point of this is that this man fought this battle without the intention to win, only the intention to kill.
Therefore, his tactics are nothing short of terrorism. I argue against him because no one that I know of plays with the intention to kill and not win in the process. You don't see my frustration? Why don't you and I fight, I'll evac all my units, then EW/WMD your clustered units and callously wipe 4 of them out? Then you'll see how frustrated I am. -- EA Apologizes Ubisoft Shanghai's Mailing Address Shanghai (Studio) 13F & 15F, The Center 989 Chang Le Road Shanghai 200031 Tel: +86 21 5407 5666 Fax: +86 21 5407 5156 |
