Hey everyone,

Since there's a actual PC technical support section for the PC version of EndWar. I might as well stick this thread in here. If any mods spot my other threads, you can close them.

Had the day off yesterday, so i thought i'd pop down to the local Westfields. Spotted the PC version of Tom Clansy's EndWar and thought what the hell!

The game installed with no issues. Starting it is a totally different story.

Everytime I try to start the game. I get the update download manager and I get as far as the first logo/intro before the game just crashes.

My machines specs are:

C2D E8400 @ 3.00GHz
4GB Ram (3.25GB available)
ATI 4870 512MB
Windows XP Pro SP2 32bit

I have about 27 games installed at the moment. COD 4, COD WOW, Crysis, Fallout 3, Red Alert, Far Cry 2, STALKER - anyways you get the picture. Every one of the games I have listed works and plays well. Not quite sure what might be wrong with EndWar.

I have tried updating the ATI Catalyst drivers with no luck. Tried turning the firewall off on a few occasions to see whether that might be an issue with no luck.

Do any of you guys have any other ideas? Paid close to $90 for the game. Would love to be able to give it a run sometime soon.

Any helps appreciated. Cheers!
- Evil

Same Problem here. I use a ATI Radeon 3750. I can hardly remember that i?ve had exactly the same problem with TC Rainbow Six 2. I had to update a driver or program then, but cannot tell anymore which one it was. That`s what i tried here so far:

- Graphiccard Drivers (Ver. 9.1 and 9.2)
- Soundblaster XFI Drivers (newest also)
- Ageia Physixs Driver (newest)
- Direct X update (webupdater)
- SAN-Tool from Ubisoft (tells me that everything is ok)

Some Ideas?

yes i've talked to other people on other forums and it seems a lot of them dont have intergrated video natively on there motherboards so if you could post your motherboard specs we might see a pattern.
0S=XP 32 SP2
RAM=2GB Patriot
CPU=Q6600
MB=ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2
Video=x1650 pro
Catalyst 9.2

Sure, here they are:

- OS= Windows Vista 64 Sp1
- RAM= 4GB Corsair
- CPU= X2 6000+
- MB= Asus M2R32-MVP (No Onboard-Video)
- Video= Radeon HD 3870
used the Catalyst 9.1 before, now changed to 9.2

Did I mention that every other game (about 25 installed) runs absolutely fine :-) The very latest installed is Dawn of War 2.

Have to mention too that the SAN-Tool from Ubisoft didn´t like my Dual Layer DVD-Writer. Tried today another brand, worked for the SAN-Tool, but not for the game.. Im sure its just a small thing like codecs or something. Right after "update-Window" the screen goes blank and at the very first moment the video would start I´m back on the Desktop with the usual error message...

your specs are the same as most people i've been talking to that are trying to get this game to run. and the only thing I keep seeing in common is your motherboard, no onboard video, and it's always ati cards.

Also I must have 35 games installed and I install and uninstall games at least twice a week plus countless mods for all of them. I would expect my other games to crash and not work before any new ones

I get the same problem as you guys.
I start the game... patch manager runs... black screen... crash.
There is no antivirus running, and practically every background process and program is closed.

I have a Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus motherboard with Core 2 Duo E6700, 3GB RAM and a Geforce 8800 Ultra, plenty of resources to run the game.

There aren't any dots in the install path, however I did install it on my D-drive, and not on the C-Drive (which is containing my OS), but all other games I have run fine from D.
And I've installed the latest patch too.

It would be awesome from Ubisoft to respond to this problem...

For ATI video card owners, catalyst 9.3 did the trick for me.

As for installing the game on D drive, try to install it on C (default install location) and see if it helps.

As for Vista 64, sorry no expirience there. if u have time, try to see if u can get it work under Vista 32 (and yes i know u have to swap your os for this)

hope this helps.

The FAQ has been updated with this bit of info:

If you install the game in a folder with a point/period (for example “C:\endwar.pc\”) the game will crash at the opening intro. To remedy this, please reinstall the game in a directory without a point/period in its name.

*UPDATE* - You should also avoid using any symbols in your install directory. It's best to stick with letters and numbers only.
