Hi All,
What's the latest news on a release date for BIA HH?I looked at the Ubisoft website and there's a load of mumbo-jumbo about "third quarter of fiscal year 2007-2008".WTF? |
|||
|
Check the previous posts with the exact same topic title...one named "release date " and the other, cleverly named, "release date?".

Gamestop is showing as being April 2, 2007 in the US of A. They are killing me with this total lack of a marketing campaign around this game. It's two months off and the most recent details on IGN or Gamestop is August 26, 2006?!

Thanks Mr J,I cant seem to find a definite date which as you know is a bit frustrating

Can anyone explain this? Ubi, hello? Talk to me, Goose.

Yes - I signed up for "release date changes" with GameStop and just received an email with the following regarding Hell's Highway:
Old Release Date - 4/2/2007 New Release Date - 11/1/2007 I think at this point, we are owed an explanation. Is this a marketing decision to wait for the '07 Christmas season, are there technical issues, has the development staff entered a mysterious catatonic state? Also, whose call is this - Gearbox or Ubisoft? I'm sure this will make a great business case someday - how to totally alienate your customer base by failing to communicate with them. |

Its frustrating because we only had to wait 8 months between Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood, and we have to wait 2+ years for third title.

This is horse s**t! How can Activision pop out COD II and III in rapid succession, before Gearbox can come out with one sequel? Granted, the BIA series is far superior to the run & gun of COD, but c'mon, this is ridiculous. Apparently we all think the game was a lot more popular than it actually was, if this is the way Gearbox is handling it.
Bad, bad decision making on their end. We deserve a real, honest explanation on this. |

Hopefully that if the release date is held back, that means the game will own even more!!! |

Okay, so I'm thinking out loud here a bit trying to figure out why HH is delayed. I'd be interested in feedback from others here.
First, a little chronology: April 12, 2006: Press release from Ubisoft and Gearbox announcing Hell's Highway in time for a holiday '06 release. Reports from E3 '06 appear on May 10, 2006. First trailer comes out May 7, 2006. Three other trailers are released, the last on August 23, 2006. Last new screenshots on Gamespot added on May 10, 2006. This is an awful long time between updates on a game that was poised for release. Ubisoft revenue annoucement on October 24, 2006 includes notice of Hell's Highway delay - "[The launch of GRAW 2] will take the place of Assassin's Creed and Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway, which will now strengthen fiscal year 2007-08," which runs from April 2007 through March 2008. This would suggest a conscious, financially driven decision on the part of the publisher to manage their portfolio. There was no mention of BiA in their Q3 release on January 23, 2007. If this is Ubi's doing, the folks at Gearbox are not going to risk harming the relationship by pointing the finger at them, so I guess we shouldn't expect any explanation from them. I also understand that the PR folks at Ubisoft are counseling senior management that the less said the better. I don't fault Ubi if the decision to hold back HH was financially driven, they are a publically traded company and have obligations to folks aside from us. However, I do believe that this lack of communication will damage their reputation in the user community. I, for one, would prefer to hear my bad news straight up. If they want to do something (anything) to restore trust, they should apply whatever resources are necessary to help the Backward Compat. team at Microsoft get the first two BiA titles working on the 360. That's enough for now, time to go release frustration playing GRAW |

|
Mjrobinson is a sharp cookie and draws some smart conclusions.
The least Gearbox / Ubisoft can do to appease the crowd is get a backward compatability title (preferably EiB) out to the gaming community, so we don't forget how to play by November of 07! |

Okay... conflicting messages... confused now... walls closing in ... room spinning... Col. Antal! Randy! medic!!!

WTF... Are these sites reliable? Souynded pretty concrete that we would have to wait until November last time I saw anything new. Hmmm

I wouldn't think that these sites are all that reliable. If the game is really coming out in April, one would think that Ubi and Gearbox would've announced it already in some official form. And, to my knowledge, they have not.
BTW, Tisdal, this is OccurredStone. I remember you from the first two BiA games. |

|
|
|
Yeah, still all the sites that said November 1, 2007 that I figure as reliabler sites havent changed, maybe those sites that got listed are out of date?
P.S I remember your name OccuredStone but i dunno how often we played together and what not. You remember IaTg too? I'm getting the old Guts and Glory website upgraded for Hells Highway as I type - Guts & Glory - BiA Xbox Live Clan - Champions of the Official Brothers in Arms Tournaments www.gamingglory.com |

I read today that MLB 2K7 is shipping early.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/766/766742p1.html Huh. Shipping a product actually before it's due date, instead of 12 months after the due date? What will people think of next?! Sorry I couldn't resist. I'll go sit in the corner now and wait for November to come. Randy speaks!
The most recent posting on Gamasutra has an interview with Randy discussing which games he want if he were on a desert island. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=12887 He had some promising comments on Hell's Highway: "More recently, Gearbox have been working on Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, which is due for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year, though Pitchford notes that the company will “start screaming loud about it” toward the end of this month. “Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a lot more accessible,” he enthuses, “it's not as hard and it's more about the experience than before. But it's even more real with respect to the environment and people and story. The team working on Brothers in Arms is super impressive. These guys are totally committed and they are all so talented. I keep getting surprised by them. Every one of them has a big future.” Additionally, the company recently revealed that they will be working on an Aliens project with Sega. While the game is still in pre-production stages, Pitchford comments that the development is moving quickly, adding happily that he can’t believe the company is “actually getting paid to make an Aliens game”." I will look forward to the "loud screaming"! |

Yeah, I've actually been chatting with IaTg quite a lot the past few weeks; mainly about BiA and the old days of murdering people on Live. Hehehe. |
