If i may quote my grand-father.

"
"Dahr kommt die English. There leuchtende geschmierte Kriegmaschine mit dort täglichem Schale 'O' thea' und dort liebenliche Gelächter. Ich erhalte ihn nicht werklich, sie habe immer Zeit, ein Nachrichten Papier mitten in merkwürdigen Leuten des Kampfes.....dahr, nach 60 Jahren, die ich noch das Brittish nicht, mit verstehe ihrem uptomistic Verstand und rebellische Stimmung......Verstand zu lesen".
Franz Johann Demmer 2SS Panzer DIV.Holland 19 September 1944

"There comes the English. There briliant lubricated war machine with there daily cup 'o' thea',and there lifely laughter.
I don't get it realy, they always have time to read a news paper in the middle of a fight.....there strange people, realy, after 60 years i still don't understand the British, with their uptomistic minds and rebellian humor......"
Franz Johann Demmer 2SS Tank DIV. Holland September 19 1944

Fellas, after you have read this you are trying to know why i put it up here, the german that you just read is from a german ace tank is in Holland at the time of the Allied invasion,Franz Johann Demmer my german step-father is a ww2 and korea veteran and each day he releases something of ww2,by wrighting in his Jounal.Today i was at his place trying to help him with one of his models seen here:

And he was talking about he English at the time of Operation Market Garden he coulden't stop talking about the Brittish.
And how the where driven mad if they diden't have time to get a cupper he had stories of a friend of him called webber, that was smart enought to steal a english tea cup, when the British founded out they realy went nuts, and they launced a small recon group just to get their tea cup back Veryhappy

Wouldent it be cool to have moments to fight side by side with the Brittish and here words as these.

  • Bloody Hell
  • Crickey
  • This for the boy's back home
  • Good ridance bands the bad rubbish

Some British humor 'specially the bigin,....Steady on there chaps...steady on there.
BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI - 1957 Clip 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcIehms6u5M

And a few others but i cant remember them right now.

Question:
Would you like to fight with the Brittish side by side, even if it's not historical accurate.

Choices:
yes ofcourse
No thank you historical accurate is inportant to our game.
That will make my day.
that will ruin the game.

Well when the XXX corps moved up Hells Highway, the 101st helped them push towards the next bridge I believe. But I think that was mainly tanks though, so no fighting side by side with the average Tommy. I voted 'it would make my day', being British my self, I would love to see some in a Brothers in Arms game.

Well as we al knew or know for that matter, one of the main guideline of the Market garden operation was to link up with the Armor of XXX (30) corps of the british armor brigade so after my trip to Paris i check my modeling colection and found some real armor gems laying here some were,so after a litle dusting they turend out real good....

see! Thumbs Up

#1. Academy's U.S. Marines M4A2 1/35th scale

M4A2 and M4A3E8 Sherman Models in 1/35th scale
Now as some of you may know, the Sherman tank went true several changes in the war, and even to day as it's still been used. Many variaties where used by the Americans, British, Polish, Free Fench, Chillies, and the Germans who called 'em Beute panzer (captured tank).

So here's the differance.

These late war Sherman tanks are both equipped with a 76 mm cannon, .50 caliber AA machine guns and two .30 caliber browning machine guns. there were crewed by five men: tank commander, gunner, loader, driver and assistant driver. The M4A2 was powered by twin Diesel engines. the M4A3E8 used gasoline power plants. their weight exceded 30 tonnes.

The M4A2 is a model by Academy in 1/35th scale and was recently released. It is a very good kit, but I was not so sure on the accuracy of the hull real panel angle. I could not find proof that it was not like Academy depicted it, but I guess that I have to leave to the historians. I am just a model builder. As with most major kit manufactures that I have bought Sherman kits from; they mold the shell ejection port of the turret in a separate part with a frame. The frame was integrally casted to the turret, so some filling and shaping was needed to correct this problem. DML in their recent releases have addressed this particular issue and have reproduced it accurately.

M4A2

The only modifications I did to this kit were a new set of tracks, a new .50 caliber AA machine gun and texturing the turret sides. The new tracks came from an AFV CLUB M-10, they are the T-49 all steel track with parallel cleats. the AA machine gun came form Academy's new US machine gun set Kit # 1384, These are superb!

M4A3E8

The main external difference in between the M4A2 and the M4A3E8 was the suspension system and the rear hull deck. the M4A2 had the VVSS(Vertical Vultee Spring Suspension) system, while the M4A3E8 used the much improved HVSS (Horizontal Vultee Spring Suspension)) system. These Sherman models used different power plants, so the rear decks had different configurations to accomodate either gasoline or diesel engines. The type of track (T49) used on the M4A2 were narrower than the T80 type used with the wider HVSS suspension system.

AFV CLUB M-10 in 1/35th scale

Free French.

This is a very good model of this famed "Tank killer" used during World War II. Based on the M3/M4 Sherman chassis, armed with an anti-tank 76mm main gun and good mobility it became a serious threat to the German armored forces. Its open turret made it vulnerable to sniper fire and hand granades. The kit is simply the best avaliable today. It is very accurate and its very well detailed. The fully operating suspension is a nice touch, but it does not work very well with the vinyl tracks. I replaced them with plastic individual link tracks that I found at a Depot Trains. They are made by a Cleveland based outfit and sold through Depot Trains (216) 252-1600. (Very, very nice tracks!)

M4 "JUMBO" Sherman in 1/35th scale by Tamiya

Now the m4 "JUMBO" Sherman.A not so well know model of the Sherman family, only 180 vehicles where build in two differant plants. The model was designed and build intirely for the Normadu landings,to lead the armored cokum of vehiles in a well defended area,it weights 45 tons 20 tons heavier than the Panzer mk.4 and was designed to attack the Panter and Tiger tanks in the Bocauge area.

Tamiya's 1/35th scale "Jumbo" is a good kit overall. It is an older kit, therefore it compares poorly in quality to newer releases by the same company. With some extra work it turns into a little gem.

Now desipte his age (88)my grandfather FRanz Johann Demmer a tank ace of the 10 ss tank devision was still able to make a master piece.

Tamiya's early Panther G by Franz Johann Demmer

Tamiya's Panther G early version is a good kit. Nevertheless it is missing some details which he found fun to make... I added a Zimmerit coating, the vanes in the exhaust pipes, new spare track racks with securing pins and chains, metal track from Fruilmodel, a new wooden block and its stowing rack and the towing cables were made with braided copper wire. He found it a lot of little challenges building this model. It was a lot of fun. He hand painted the markings, so please excuse him for the sloppiness.

Tamiya's 1/35 scale Jagdpanther Mk V late version
I kinda build this bad baby straight out of the box, and you can see it.

Tamiya's 1/35th scale Mk V Panther G
Bastogne version.

This is one of my favorite armor models! This late type G model by Tamiya is a great kit. Good fit, simple to build and the detail is great. I recommend it to anyone.

???

I used metal tracks made by Fruil. They are expensive, but worth every penny! I painted them in a dark steel color, 80% gloss black enamel and 20% silver. I coated them with Testor's Metallizer Sealer after the enamel dried.

For the camouflage I used Modelmaster enamels; Signalbraun, Dunkelgelb and Panzer Olive. For the details I used Modelmaster and Testor's Acrylics. Once the camouflage dried I applied a coating of Testor's Metallizer Sealer before decaling. Once the decals cured I sealed them using again some more Metallizer Sealer. Then I applied a light coat of Testor's Dullcote.

This is just a indication of wich vehicles fought in the batle....

Thanks guy's! Cool .

The reason why i put these models up to our forums is to show begining gamers to get them to get a know how of wich vehicles took place in the secend world war.
Thus make sure that the knowledge of ww2 isen't lost after a decade or three, becasue many teens take Freedom and Liberty for grantid, they just need to know that freedom and Liberty is Worth fighting for, I mean Last Thursday i was at Disney-Land Paris and they had an excact copy of the Hammer and Chivel they used for the Statue of Liberty....and thats'something to tell you're grandkids one day....i'll up-load those photo's further on the week!.

I really would like to fight alongside the British in this game as i've said before. By the by Redd that story about the British recon group and the tea-cup is really good, eally sums up the British character in WW2 and their dogged determination.
