Hello all, I just wondered if anyone else out there is getting "Unreadable Disc, clean disc restart system" on their Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway on Xbox 360? I'm getting this happen throughout the game, sporadically, sometimes just before the save point! I have tried 3 copies, took 2 back to one shop went and purchased third from another. Still the same problem. This is the only game that I get this message on, I have tried everything so far, compressed air in to the Xbox 360 Elite which is only 3 months old, playing without the hard drive, deleted the saved games. Still the same message happens then goes back to the main menu. I just want to rule out the fact this maybe a game glitch before I send my 360 away for repair, as I said no problems with any other games whatsoever? Any help or if anyone else is experiencing this I would be very grateful to know, as then myself and others may be able to rule out that it's not the Xbox and is either the game disc or game needing an urgent update? Cheers.

The only thing i can think of, unless you send it off to be repaired, is that you have been extremely unlucky with the games you purchased and all have been botched copies. Apart from that I'm stumped.

Hello, cheers for your thoughts. I have lent my copy to my mate now and asked him to play through it, he will let me know if he recieves the same error. A peculiar thing I have noticed though regarding my game saves for BIAHH is that even when I remove the save games from the hard drive, I start it up again and behold my current progress is still there giving me the option to continue, surely if I had deleted the saved game from the hard drive which everything indicates it has completely gone, I shouldn't have the option to continue once the game goes back in to the system again? Unless a save game has been corrupted and is still existing invisibly I really don't know? Although the logical explanation would be the Xbox as I am more than aware how unstable they actually are. I have contacted Microsoft and have all the info to send it in for repair, however if someone can come up with the magic solution, or if this is actually the games fault it may save a lot of time and hassle!

Thanks for the info, the third copy of the game I got was the tin case one, all of the discs have been brand new and are all in immaculate condition with no marks on them at all. I will double check the centre of this new one just to be sure of no cracks in it. I have checked around the internet Google etc and have discovered that one of the previous Brothers in Arms games on the old Xbox had a lot of unreadable disc needs to be cleaned errors, even though the discs were fine looking on the outside. I am really giving my Xbox 360 a good thrashing on other games now to see if the message comes up on anything else, so far nothing. This is a strange one.

Hello, just a recent update for anyone reading this that has had the unreadable disc error. 4 copies of the game, tried it on 2 friends consoles and a lot of research later, I came to the conclusion that it must have been something to do with the Xbox 360's laser, or maybe the disc wasn't being held in place firmly enough.2 of my mates played the game on their 2 machines and no problems, no unreadable disc. So my Xbox is back with Microsoft to be repaired. I tried cleaning the machine just in case any dust on the laser, tried compressed air, lens cleaner, playing without the hard drive in, deleting saved games in case they were corrupt, but still got the unreadable disc error. Once my Xbox returns I'll give BIAHH a blast again from the start to see if the error persists, however for the time being my advice to anyone getting unreadable disc would be to look in to repairing or contacting Microsoft about it. I will put down my results after my Xbox returns.

Right, brand new Xbox 360 back today from microsoft. First game I tried was BIAHH, not a mark on the disc and up pops "Unreadable Disc Error, Disc needs to be cleaned" Now this is a brand new machine, it's also the 4th brand new disc of BIAHH I have had, still unreadable disc error? I can only assume that I was wrong in my previous post and that the problem lies either in the programming of the game on the disc or a bad batch of discs? doesn't make any sense at all? If anyone else has the answer as to what is going on here I would love to know???

I am also getting the unreadable disc error. I received my game from Gamefly so obviously the game is not new but there don't appear to be any obvious scratches. I have sent the game back 3 times, so I am on my fourth unique disc. It gives me the error at different parts of the game and only with this game. I have a brand new console that was given to me after I got RROD on my previous.

hi, had the same problem. and its something technical, it has nothing to do with scratches on the disc and so on. anyway i solved it by saving the game on the hard drive and its working excellent now.

This is sadly a known issue with the Xbox360; I've personally had experience of it and know many others who've also had this problem.

When you sent it in for repair the one they replaced it with will be a reconditioned unit rather than new and while they will quality check them before sending them out its always possible they will have issues. I would strongly suggest you call support back up (if you’ve not already) and report the ongoing problems, if a repaired system receives another fault or duplicate of the previous fault they fast track the second repair so it won’t take as long.

I hope it gets sorted for you

Thanks for the responses above. Yeah, I had thought of playing the game from the hard drive, but just wanted to isolate what the cause is/was. Kenastma, it looks as though you are having exactly the same thing happen, I honestly believe this to be the game, after my 360 came back a different machine, different serial number etc, the game is still having this trouble. I just feel that the chances of the machine coming back with exactly the same problem very slim. If the 2nd machine to come back was faulty chances are it would have been a different fault, not the same fault on exactly the same game and no others? I spent one Sunday on this new 360 on a marathon games session from 8am until 12am ish time to try to get the "unreadable disc error" to occur on several of my other games. Then once I had ascertained that this was not going to happen I tried BIAHH and within 15mins "unreadable disc error, disc needs to be cleaned." Not a mark on this 4th disc either! I think I sent away my brand new 3 month old 360 for no reason to be honest. Is there anyway that anyone knows of to contact the developer and find out if this is the software not the 360? If you look in this forum and under Technical - brothers in arms, you can see many comments about dirty disc errors on the first Xbox about Brothers in Arms, earned in bloood, loads of reports about people with new Xbox's getting dirty disc errors. Is this a programming problem? ms-kleaneasy - thank you for your advice also, however I would have thought this problem would have been happening on every disc if an Xbox 360 hardware problem was evident? I just think that if I send this 360 back again, I will be increasing my chances of getting a genuinely faulty one, which is just going to more hassle sending that back again.

Well it’s a fair logical assumption but sadly from mine and friends experience not an accurate one.

If you can’t pin a reason for the problem its best to send it back even if you doubt that to be the problem, the reason I say this is you'll have time limits on doing so and it’s better to make the most of those options while they're available than leave it until it’s too late

Whatever the cause though I do hope you get things sorted Smile

Hello there. Yeah I do see your point exactly, I think I will send the xbox back again. This just seems really bizarre to me though that it's only on the 1 game plus 2 different consoles, do you think that a particular area of the country could be more subject to the chance of recieving a faulty batch of games as opposed to 2 different 360's with exactly the same problem though? I will book my 360 in and get it sent away and replaced, however if this happens for the 3rd time, it has to be the game.

same problem here, brand new game, sealed, wrapped etc and im getting the same error time and time again, all my other games seem ok, I have had a couple of these errors before every once in a while but not on this scale, thankfully installing the game to the hard drive seems to solve this problem so ill just keep it on my hard drive

Hello there, right I sent my Xbox away again and so am now on my 3rd 360, 4th BIAHH game. At present I haven't had a massive amount of time to give it some decent testing, however I have played about an hour without the problem occuring on this new 360. I will have a decent sit down at the weekend and go through from the start and see if the problem is persisting, if so I think the problem will have to certainly lie with the game, as each of the 360's that have come back have been with different serial numbers so definitely different machines. Will post my results after the weekend.

you all need to stop blowing compressed air into the xbox's. This will do nothing more than void the warranty. But anyhoo to the main topic. I had an xbox 360 elite before it became gravely ill with the rrod and had to be sent back. So I rented one from rent-a-center, and let's just say I know what you all are talking about. My elite ran no problem but the rented one LOL. I'm supposed to get mine back today so I'll see if I can actually get the kilroy achievement without getting mad
