Are the developers reading these comments as well?

I seem to be experiencing bugs with Red Steel. It froze at a few points (can't reset or turn off the console, only unplug the power) plus the Killer mode behaves erratically and inconsistently. It just plays out like a regular deathmatch with the remotes vibrating incessantly.

Nintendo replaced our console in case it was a hardware fault. We also had the game disc exchanged for a brand new one by the retailer - but to no avail.

The "Killer" mode still doesn't work like the booklet describes.
We get sporadic ringing - sometimes stopping abruptly at different times. The remotes continue to vibrate and only on a few rare occasions did we hear a voice come out on any of the remote speakers. Even then, the command was incomplete. Most of the time it just rings every now and then.

A couple of times, it actually said "Press B to hang up" on one of the screens. And on another occasion, there was actually a countdown like we were into a round.

But other than that, it played just like a regular deathmatch, even ending the game when the nominated number of frags was achieved, nothing to do with any killer assignment or missions.

Has anyone else got this to work?

Killer mode is odd indeed. However it works perfectly fine for me. The commands are, immature, at times. But generally it works out great. I may say, for myself at least, that killer is the best mode of multiplayer in red steel.

And oh yes, when the phone(remote) starts to ring, press the "2" button on your remote to listen to your command. You must listen very carefully. And sometimes, it may seem like an very illogical command, such as "Kill the mystery person". But that simply proves to be a mysterious yet fun addition to the "Killer" aspect. 4 Player killer mode is hell load of fun.

Hi smxyz, thanks for your reply to my question on the Ubisoft Red Steel Forum. Whew! That was a year ago! And I ended up returning the game to the retail store and exchanging it for another game!

I still think about it though! And my kids and I miss the multiplayer deathmatches we had! Too bad Ubisoft didn't refine such a great game concept.

But I'm curious, when did you purchase your copy? Could it be a later copy with some bugs ironed out?
