You must have done eomething i didnt. I got to the same stage and didnt manage to break his sword in time and ended up on 69&. I think if you do break his sword you get a different ending as i saw this in another post on this board.
When im bored/done with call of duty 3 ill go back and replay the last level to get the other ending and maybe increase my completion percentage. Im assuming that as i didnt do all the sword training and for some reason was not able to get all the guns at the shooting range by the last level that is why i didnt get a better percentage. I also killed a lot more than i spared so im not sure if that is a factor aswell.
Breaking swords is pretty easy once you work catch on to your attackers tactics. When they try a heavy, unblockable attack just dodge it with the button plus left right action then as you finish the dodge swing the nunchuck left or right.
Some will do nothing but heavy attacks so they are easy to break but some tend to go light, light, heavy or light, light, light, heavy. With these you can just block the light ones then dodge the heavy ones. Others will do so many heavy attacks and then just stick to slashing. These can usually be defeated by continually doing the double strike (whatever its called) which is the first special move you learn once they stop the heavy attacks. You will take a lot of hits but as long as his sword is mostly broken you should be able to break it without getting killed.
Pretty much all sword fights follow a pattern, just watch your enemy and count how many soft strikes they make before a heavy one. You will probably find they just repeat the same attack sequence over and over.
