First off, it's nice coming here and while seeing a lot of remarks about the sub-par quality of this game, that there is a good degree of support for ubisoft in general. Over at EA, the sense there is general animosity towards EA and little or no hope of the issues being addressed.
But man... why was this game ever released? Are profit margins really that tight that you can't let a stinker like this just roll over and die? You really feel you had to hype this thing up and sell us on a nearly unplayable cliche packed yawner where the only challenge is not vomiting while using the seriously messed up controls? I mean really. You took my $50.00 and I doubt that after the 2 hours I've spent on this that I would want to play this game any more. I feel motionsick from playing this game because keeping the camera level is difficult, and it has a penchant for spinning around in circles and not wanting to stop or jerking around in weird directions on it's own. I can see why you guys made the auto health recovery and why it's instantaneous. Without it, no one would want to play this because the frustration level would be too high. So you made it so it's difficult to die to try to keep it playable. I find myself cussing and swearing, sometimes loudly. Not because the game is hard, but because the controls are so messed up. The amount of glitches are unforgivable, the guns "auto-aim" is always making my camera go in unwanted directions and makes basic walking around in certain areas very difficult. I've had several fight sequences where I can't stop spinning around in circles to take aim. All this frustration and dizzyness in just a couple hours of play. And I'm so fed up, I think the only way to "finish" this game is to crush the disc in my hands and toss it in the trash. That at least would give me some pleasure. Personally, this game should never have been released. At least not in this condition. And because of playing this game, it's going to be at least a year or two before I'll pick up a ubisoft game on the wii again. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on ubisoft. But man... I feel nauseous from game play and that's not a good feeling. Who wants to feel physically ill from playing? Including a package of Tylenol or Dramamine in the game case would have been nice. And it's very clear this is not a finished product, but something that was rushed to market and hyped up to make some cash, without caring for what you were giving the consumer in return. On the whole, I like the concept behind the controls. It's just that the code is extremely buggy and far from ready. Also, it's not just this game that has controller issues, a lot of wii titles do. I understand it's a new concept and you all need some time to get your heads around it and deliver on it. But what I don't get is why it's viewed as acceptable to take $50.00 from me for something that is so broken and unpolished? I feel like I just paid $12.00 to see a rough edit of a movie with scenes still left to be filmed and audio segments/soundtrack missing. So if I seem harsh, it's because I do quite sincerely feel a bit ripped off. I only wished I had read wii game revews before buying my wii and a couple games last week. Anyway, I hope you guys work out the controller issues in the future. I'll definitely try a ubisoft title off gamefly in mid-2008 and see how things are then. |

In many ways I agree and would feel impossible to justify the purchase. Fortunately for me I borrowed a copy from a friend instead.
For the most part I agree the controls needs a lot of work but after those two hours of nausea, I noticed the game style is similar enough to CS, using its tactics works for the most of this game. I don't mean running out and pray you don't get killed. Some strafing, hiding, running and look for cover so subtle movements is the key (at least thats what I think anyways) Try this, find an office chair with an adjustable arm rest. Adjust it so you can rest our elbow + wii controller. Use the chair's ability to swivel :P The sword katas is even worse.

dude what do you expect?
Ubisoft are **** developers and they have no long term future on the Wii. Companies like EA have already far surpassed them with decent ports and great exclusives. Pretty soon third party support is going to improve and Ubisofts terrible games will be quickly forgotten and resigned to history. Then we can finally see the back of this shhitty incompetent company |

OK, may I say that you're bypassing the autocensor AND you're being a pain?
Btw, MC Hammer rules - Can't touch this! |

I'm kinda stuck on it myself, but you don't see me complaining here. All I need to do to get past the second stage is a couple tries. That's it
The only way to tell between me (Metel Star), dumdum (The COA's idiot), and Blaze (The reckless idiot) is by our eyes (blue, green, red, in that order) Hey, nobody said being a Metel is easy. Including since I had a darker form... We all have darkness in our heart. Mines the worst- Metel Shadow |

I'm just gonna' get this game because it's an FPS for the Wii.
EDIT: what are the usable weapons? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kong_769, |

The game is perfectly playable with pratice. The only unwieldy parts are the swordfights. The topic starter is just a whiner.
An upcoming novel by me. Thanks Melonie for the sig! |

Hey topic starter! Guess what, know why the game keeps spinning? It's cuz u and ur retarded hands cant point inside the screen. God ur such a whiner. Red steel is a breakthrough FPS game and the controls r fine. Its game junkies liek u who cant be bothered to get up off the couch or move ur arm. and when u r forced to, ur arm jerks so much, it spins for u. so basically, u just suck at this game. It is great, and ur a nerd.

If I read reviews they more agree with the topic starter. I find Redsteel not a good game. The sword thing isn't well implemented.
It's one of mij first games. The problem lies Nintendo has a good grip on how to develop for Wiimote HID. It's new method. This is User interface design the have a headstart for. Redsteel is one of the first thirdparty releases for Wii. Developers wich apperently don't have it in there hands yet. Maybe Redsteel 2 will do it right. |
