Still nothing on different torpedos, though. I don't get why you wouldn't just go with the fastest/longest range model, but I see people here talking about firing differnt torps for different scenarios. What gives?

Also for crew promotion, how much experience does a crew member need before promotion?

The manual touches on renoun, and it's helpful to know that I can lose points. Any way to know how many points get added/subtracted for [criteria]?

The SH4 Manual is a start point but lacks some information as you have pointed out. Another why to get answers to some of your questions is to go to the top of the page and look to the left at the tabs that say - Go, New, Find, Notify, Tools, Reply, New PM. Select the tab "Find", click on that and then type in a key word to search for, say for example - Torpedoes, then click GO. This will search this forum for post that has the key word Torpedoes in it and display these post. I found this handy when I first got SH4 to get a lot of my questions answered.
If you do a search and still can't find out the answer then post your question here on the main forum.
Another thing I should point out is there are two forums of SH4 for you to view. You are in the Community Technical Help section right now. If you go to the top of the page you will see where you can click on and go to the General Discussion Forum. You can use the Find option there to.
