I recently purchased SH4 through Steam, and I'd like to try some of the mods. I noticed that the Steam version is only patched to v1.3. The Ubisoft patch doesn't detect it as installed. I'm wondering: Is Ubisoft and/or Valve likely to release v1.4 on Steam (seems unlikely since it has already been out since Nov)? And if not, is there a way I can manually install the patch? If I can't patch to v1.4, will mods not work properly? Specifically, I wanted to install the Trigger Maru mod pack, which is supposed to be for v1.4. I'm guessing that it will probably make things unstable.

I just purchased this game about one week ago and I’m extremely annoyed by the bugs. I was relieved to find there a version 1.4 vs. 1.3 that comes with steam. I tried to update with the patch and it fails saying that there is no existing version installed. This means I can’t play online cause my version differs from everyone else’s and thus I have a buggy game that I can’t play online or patch. What a waste for $20 bucks that took me 2 hours to work for. I lost 2 hours of work and about 20 hours of my life trying to play this game.
Thanks steam for doing this and thanks Ubisoft for allowing a vendor to have version control. What’s next letting the vendor remove or add features? I wish I was warned about this by either Ubisoft or steam. This sucks and ****es me off so bad that I will not purchase another product either Ubisoft or steam until they stop allowing version control.

You can find out what version you have by looking at the bottom right hand corner when you are in the menu screen.
I am not familiar with Stream except for what I have read on this forum. I would hope that Stream will have an update to 1.4
