If you have seen Band of Brothers (which i'm sure the majority of the people in this forum have) you will hear sometimes that they say "The Airborne has never been used in battle, their first battle was D-Day", or something like that. What they mean is that the US army had never used an Airborne unit in battle before D-Day. This is where it get's abit wierd. The 82:nd Airborne jumped into Sicily in 42/43 (can't remember) which means that it was before D-day. which means that they DID use an Airborne unit befor D-Day. Why would they make a misstake like that?
They never said that d-day was the first battle the airborne was used for. The only time they said something about the use of the airborne was in the first episode by Colonel Sink. He said : "The airborne is a brand new concept in the military; let's put this brand new concept into victory" and that was at the moment the guys became paratroopers -> time of that happening 1942. I guess that is before Sicily. Afther that they said nothing about the subject.
