number of places if you want a used one...just google it..
you can get a brand new one from:
http://www.springfieldarmory.com even a d-day edition one for around $1500
If you can meet the requirements there is the. Cilvilian Marksmanship Program
http://www.odcmp.com Probably your best bet for a reasonably priced M1.
Gun Shows, Online Auctions, even Pawn Shops are another possibility, but expect to pay a premium through those sources.
Here is another site to look into which will give you an idea of prices.
http://listings.shotgunnews.com/gunad/category/S4200 The DCM program is a very good idea if you have the time and desire to participate in a few competition matches. Good luck on your quest.

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring here... I believe Willys-MB hit the nail on the head. However, you dont actually have to do competition in order to qualify for purchasing from the CMP. You can join the Garand Collecters Association. It costs 25 bucks. The CMP would be your best bet if you dont want to spend alot, especially if you dont mind cleaning it up. Cleaning cosmoline is part of the fun of collecting military surplus firearms.
