Go look up the battle of Heurtgen Forest. It's one of the few battles on the Sigfried line where the American casualties were far greater than the Germans. Also this is where the Battle of Aachen took place and its also the location of Hill 400 (think Call Of Duty 2)

Yes it was, and it was an extremely bloody battle! The 1st and 29th divisions suffered 5000 casualties in 22 days. Not far from Aachen other elements of the 1st division fought for Crucifix Hill which was barely a victory for the Americans.
i remember crucifix hill on CoD2 big Red 1.... ya the whole first half of the mission u just see ur guys get killed, tanks blown up an everything, my fave mission from Big Red 1

Also, the battles for the Aleutian islands, the 2nd war ever fought on U.S. soil.
I thought the Bataan death march was pretty well known, no?
I was talking to a Vet. of WW2 from Canada (hence Canada was still under the Birtsh rule untill 1982) Canadians were under the command of the Brits. Some of the stories he told me were to the greatest detail. he told me that his good friend need wanted to loot where they were postioned and but he didn't want to so the argument when for 10 seconds then a shot from window where his bud was standing in the house was shot then less then a second that you can hear the sniper shot. he still has dreams aboout it he tells me.
Once the war was over 50 years later the Canadian VETs where invited to go to Gremany and see the VETs there from the Gremany side. they did have translators and this VET met a man in a wheel chair and wanted to talk to him and get some history from him. The Canadian VET got some info that he was a sniper and that he was in the same area where his friend shot and killed the same day.
I thought wow meeting the person that killed your friend when the war was about 50 years ago. The VET I am talking about was angry but he shoke his hand and walked away. he didn't make a sence or anything but as he was walking away he told me i wish the war wasn't over.
How about any of the battles for Burma. That is more than anything else a forgotten WAR.
Yes, it is nicknamed the Forgotten War. People should look it up- its very interesting. The British had no experience of jungle warfare and were forced to adapt. We had pretty heavy casualties I believe. The Gurkha's were a big part of it, as Burma is situated near India.
