I'm not ranting of flamin or doin anything against BiA, i just have one little question. Is the BAR model on BiA correct, because it seems like call of duty's is alot different, so i was just wondering if someone knew which was more accurately depicted. thanks

BIA's BAR model is actually my only favorite weapon model in the game. It's done very well. And the way the player holds it is accurate as well.

From my knowledge, when looking at the weapons page and the BAR model in particular, it is very accurate...i cannot compare to Call of Duty's model because i haven't played it (yup its true!) but from real images of the BAR model used by the US it is pretty accurate

BIA's BAR model is mor accurate than COD's. Call of Duty's is missing the front peep hole sight.
I know they are both different types of BAR's but the one used in BIA was actually used in Normandy. Same goes for the Bazooka. BIA's model is the right one. |

As i said before: i dont realli know wot the C.O.D BAR Model looks like but i pretty sure the US army have used two BAR models...the first model was used/made during the WW1 years but briefly used in WW2...the second model which was widely used in WW2 is the one we have in BiA...the first model was not automatic either and i believe was used at longer ranges...neways wot iz saying is tht mayb the first model was used on C.o.D although i'm not sure if there were any significant differences in terms of look of each BAR??? If anyone knows more bout this it would be interesting if it could be posted

Browning Automatic Rifle
Operation Air cooled, gas operated, magazine fed, shoulder type M1918A1 selective fire (fully and semi-automatic) M1918A2 fully automatic Caliber .30 (30-06) Muzzle velocity 853.4 mps (2800 fps) Capacity 20-round detachable box magazine (1) Bandoleer (BAR belt): 12 magazines (2) Magazine changeable in 2-4 seconds (but averaged 6-8 seconds in combat) Weight 8.33 kg (18.5 lbs) Overall length 119.4 cm (47 in.) Rate of fire 550 rounds per minute Effective range 550m (600 yds) Ammunition (1) Ball M2; 150 gr bullet, 50 gr charge (2) Tracer M25, M1: for designating targets and signalling (3) Armor piercing M2 (black tip); 165gr/53gr (4) Armor piercing incendiary: for lightly armored flammable targets The initial M1918A1 version of the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was first used in combat by American soldiers during World War I, and many saw service in World War II. The BAR received high praise for its reliability under adverse conditions. In 1940, the model M1918A2 was adopted. Unlike earlier models, it could only be fired in two automatic modes--slow (300 to 450 rpm) or fast (500 to 650 rpm)--but not in semiautomatic mode. Both versions were widely used in the second world war. The USMC preferred the semiautomatic mode in some tactical situations, and modified most of the M1918A2 guns to include that capability. A buffer spring in the butt greatly reduced recoil, to the advantage both of firing accuracy and shooter endurance. The M1918A2 also mounted its folding bipod (2.38 pounds!) on a special flash hider near the end of the barrel. Since the bipod could easily be detached in this model, it very frequently was! but not often in defensive positions, where it was very effective. The flash hider, which was the point of attachment for the bipod, was not usually removed. |

Think i have read tht article u put above...yea well tht clears up wot i was tryin to say in terms of the two models of BAR...dunno if tht does relate in any way to the C.o.D model or not as i dont kno if there was actually ne difference in terms of look plus i havent seen the BAR

i can see why the took off the bipod, the thing is heavy, 18.5 pounds (empty and without the bipod probably). the only thing i can say about it is that the Parachute Infantry didn't jump with the BAR, and it is somewhat unlikely that annother a squad would be willing to give thiers up. wonder how Hartsock got that BAR.

"wonder how Hartsock got that BAR."
Glider. |

I'm pretty sure Hartsock started with an M1?? Can't remember when he got the BAR tho?

Wuahaha, that's what my dad's asking me all the time when he watches me playing BiA:
Now how did he get that gun?! Yep, it's somewhat strange how the guns always change... |
|||
|
well, guys did swap weapons from time to time within the squad. i can't think of any specific examples but i'm pretty sure it happened. the thing that bothers me about the gun switching is they are wearing the wrong gear. Mac has a tompson throughout the whole game but he has M1 carbine pouches on his belt...?

you know... GLIDERS! One of the gliders we had to save had to resuply us eagle 2 - greenlionhaert - das Kaninchen |
||||

did soldiers even carry two weapons such as an m1 carbine and a thompson, thats gotta be impossible to carry those at the same time, (why do games let you carry that many weapons then)?
|
||||
|
He exchanged it with his M1A1 Carbine after the ambush at Exit 4, right behind Utah Beach. Mac said that they would rest at Exit 4 for a while, get resupplied and move out. |

With the gear of the time and the weight of the weapons, I highly doubt that anyone ran around with two rifles. And, you don't want to duck for cover with a(nother) rifle on your back. Nowadays, many troops carry two weapons. Snipers, machinegunners... |

Hmm. Don't know for sure how the squadbots exchanged their weapons, but it's possible to pretend they got them from casualties.
Baker gets what, 2 chances at that? One where they're standing over a body, wondering what killed the guy and somebody says it wasn't old age. (Folding-stock carbine.) And again in Carentan where, for whatever reason, there's a U.S. soldier just behind the mg nest on the street. (BAR rifle) |
