I am related to a Lieutenant Colonel that recieved the Medal of Honor in WW2. It is Lt. Col. Robert G Cole. I don't know much about him all I really know is that he was in the 502nd PIR and he won the MoH. From what I found out about him is that he lead his battalion through 4 bridges on the way to Carentan. When I heard that Brothers In Arms was based on the 502nd PIR I was wondering if he would be featured in the game. I don't know much about him and I was wondering if he was in the game and if anyone could find anything on him for me.

Lt. Col Cole is a character in the game and one of the few characters that did not undergo a name change from history to the game. The action for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor ("Cole's Charge") will be in the game.

There were more Medals of Honor awarded on Iwo Jima than the rest of the war. The Marines in the Pacific have long been ignored while their BiA in Europe received attention.

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are reportedly either considering or working on a "Band of Brothers" for the Pacific. I think it's long overdue. Europe gets "The Longest Day" and the Pacific troops got "Sands of Iwo Jima" ... what a raw deal.

Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg are currently making "Flags of Our Fathers." This movie is based on the book written by James Bradely, son of one of the flag raisers on Iwo Jima. The movie will be about Iwo Jima and is due to premiere in 2006. It should be pretty good, the book was extraordinary.

I think the devs said that the man they've based most on Baker was Sgt. Summers, of WXYZ fame.

I found out that Robert Cole was my grandfather. I recently found an old trunk up in the attic with his personal military possesions. In the trunk I found his diary he kept in WW2, the flag that was sent to his wife (my grandmother) when he died, his drill uniform, a helmet of his, a pair of boots, a few empty gunshells that were in a tiny bag, a few letters, his pocket watch, a picture of him with my grandmother before he left to fight, and a few medals. After I read his diary and letters I learned that he was a man that wasn't inparticularly heroic or corwardly but he was just a regular guy. I read of his charge through his own experience and what he felt about it. His last entry was about how much he missed his family and wanted to be home. The next day he was shot by a sniper in Holland. He was truly a remarkable member in my family and has become a brand new role model for me.

If you type in Cole's name and rank on Google or another search engine (just to prove I'm not endorsing Google. Google is great don't you think? I love Google.) You will be presented with a lot of information on the guy and what he did. On some of the sites they also have his recommendation for the Medal of Honour, and other stuff like where he was buried etc.
