Encyclopædia Britannica tells the story of the Normandy Invasion through the spoken recollections of veterans who fought it, the newsreels that brought the news home, and the written words of historians who have dedicated years to studying the great campaign.

Thanks for that great link, narc!

Just to add a footnote to that:

Some of that footage, specifically 'The True Glory', can be had at your local Wal-Mart.

Look for a box-set called World War 2 the Ultimate Collection. (I posted something about this a while back) It's 20-some bucks Canadian so that'll be cheaper in U.S. dollars.

There's a TON of great stuff on double-sided DVD's.

I thought the world and young people in general would forget and/or lose interest in these events.
(I'm a grumpy old git Mocking)

cue: Big Speech.........

Ahem restores my faith in human nature no end
to see people really intersted in what it was all about.
and to see people appreciating what these grumpy old men went thru.
Wasnt always like this, in the sense that no one was interested in what these guys went thru,
most of the time.
end of speech
