****...your game looks gr8 but i cant beleve in that u made so big historical mistake!? How could u put Polish army on axis side?! This is not making seanse! We were first country which has been attacked by Germans. We lost 1/4 of our 32 billion population during the war. Polish army had lots of Polish divisions on IIww fronts what made us 4th power but on ALLIES SIDE! Opposite to Ukraine, Russians or French there wasnt even one division which was fighting on German side!
Had to say that because lots of kids learn history by playing games...

A few points first, i'm not a kid who learns off games and if i make a mistake in this post then i'm sorry if i offend you or your country.

Anyway regarding the polish troops in the game, Germany conscripted people from all over their conqured territories Russia, Poland etc. They were forced to fight for Nazi Germany.

Many of these conscripted troops were put in the Ost (east) Battialion and they were at Normandy of the time of the invasion. (Pegasus Bridge was said to be gaurded by mostly Russian Conscripts)Polish troops did not oficaily fight for Germany but many lads from Poland were forced to fight for them, hence the Polish in the game, hope this helps mate.

I think that this mistake should be remove imediatly, saying that Polish soldiers were fighting on the axis side is realy incompetent,if this game is bassed on historical truth, you must make some correction, just simply to educate people....people must know the truth, not lies, especially historical lies...

Some of the peoples from Occupied Nations were asked to fight for Germany and did so willingly.

Some were told to fight, or die. They chose to take their chances to live a little longer.

That's not the sort of thing anyone would want to brag about, talk about, etc.

But it would seem to be an historical reality.

RMaule and DarkAutumn...u r right in 5o%. In German army - Wermaht there were ppl from Poland but they were called "volksdeutche". They were half germans - half polish. And they decided to be germans. But there is a note in BiN which says germans had in they army - lets call it - "polish divisions". That says we had organized trups which were fighting for Germans. And that's not true.
Im a bit confused because my country was fighting with unhonour army. We lost lots of ppl during the war. We had lost this war because allies betrided us by leaving us for Stalin. We were fighting very hard for freedom and when i see things like this im geting p issed off.. This is not first game which is trying to show Poland as this "bad country" (check "Codename Panzers" which says Poland attacked Germany and thats why there was IIww). LOL :P

Beside, you must know that was IMPOSIBLE that Plosh soldiers were on the axis side, cos were thought as under-people,so how it is possible that Polish BLOOD could ever apear in whermacht???its simply impossible!,only volksdeuthsce cuold be soldiers of whermacht, cos they were half-german,and they felt more as Germans, not Polaks,..."Germany conscripted people from all over their conqured territories Russia, Poland etc. They were forced to fight for Nazi Germany."...thats your words,Polaks were never been forced to join axis army,...eeeh

So I don't know if any Poles were conscripted into Ost Battalions but Neo's statement about Untermenschen never being conscripted is just wrong. Ost Battalions came from all over Eastern Europe and Russia and Germans had no affinity for any of these people. They were used as stop-gap measures to fill holes left in the Atlantic Wall because of the continuing struggle on the Eastern Front.

It is not true that Poland was abandoned by the Allies. Czechoslowakia (sp?) was. Chamberlain basically gave it to Hitler in hopes of averting escalation. As soon as Germany invaded Poland France and England declared war on Germany. Russia on the other hand did betray Poland. Arguably it was an Ally during the war but only because it was needed to defeat the Germans. The US and England distrusted Stalin and for good reasons of course.

Hmm...U r right with Czechoslowakia. But what do u mean by saying "England and France declared war on Germany"? What did they do? They did nothing. And that sucks! If France and England could attack Germany fev days after Germans attack there could be no IIww. But they were watching and waiting for USA.
Allies betrided us with Rosevelt at first place. They were saying to our goverment they gonna help us. Not Russians but they! And what Roseveld with Churchil did? They sold us in Teheran. Stalin was happy.
Take a look. Why presidends of other east european countrys dont want to come to Moscow in May? They feel thisame what we feel. From Nazism to Comunism...no diferent .

Did you know that when Germany invaded Poland, German troops were under strict orders from Hitler to retreat to Germany in the French counter attacked in responce to the Invasion, but like you said they did nothing, they could of stopped the war before it started. Us brits could not of attacked as quick though because we had to mobalise and then move thousands of troops acroos Europe, i do however agree that we should of attacked quiker or maybe had troops stationed in France before the war because the it was obvious that the invasion was going to happen before it did. Anyway we did try to attack but the Generals left it too late and the Germans were dug in and waiting for us.

There's a huge difference between a willing collaborator, and someone who's made to cooperate by force.

My understanding of Poles in the German army is that they were ethnic Germans living in Poland. People that the Germans used, in part, as an excuse to justify their invasion of Poland.

"In occupied Poland the status of Volksdeutsche had many privileges but one big disadvantage: Volksdeutsche were conscripted into the German army. The Volksliste had 4 categories. No. 1 and No. 2 were considered ethnic Germans, while No. 3 and No. 4 were ethnic Poles that signed the Volksliste. No. 1 and No. 2 in the Polish areas re-annexed by Germany numbered ~1,000,000 and No. 3 and No. 4 ~1,700,000. In the General Government there were ~120,000 Volksdeutsche.
Volksdeutsche of Polish origins were treated by Poles with special contempt, and also it constituted high treason according to Polish law.

German citizens that remained on territory of Poland became as a group persona non grata. They had a choice of applying for Polish citizenship or being expulsed to Germany. The property that belonged to Germans, German companies and German state, was confiscated by the Polish state along with many other properties in communist Poland. German owners, as explicitly stated by the law, were not eligible for any compensation. Those who decided to apply became subject to a verification process. At the beginning many acts of violence against Volksdeutsche took place. However, soon the verification of Volksdeutsche became controlled by the juridical process and was completed in a more fair manner."

also, that thing about Codename Panzers? That was just a false order given from German High Command. A "fight" was staged on the border of Poland and Germany, and the German commanders were given orders to retaliate.

yes, I'm pretty sure the Germans used one of their radio stations to broadcast distress messages to the German public and make them think that their country's attack on Poland was just and not in cold blood.

The Germans created a crisis:

Saying ethnic Germans living in Poland were being persecuted by the Poles. They manufactured a border incident (Germans in Polish uniform), etc.

Because of all this Polish 'aggression', Germany 'had no choice' but invade.

Back then all people had were newspapers, radio, and movie theatre newsreels.

There's a DVD box set you can pick up at Wal Mart if you're American or Canadian called "ww 2, the Ultimate Collection'.

It's a bunch of wartime short films with lots of actual combat footage from Europe, Italy, and the Pacific.

One of the films is a German propaganda documentary that explains their side of things: the events leading up to the invasion of Poland, and shows a lot of German combat footage of that invasion.

Looking back, knowing what we know now, the film is downright creepy viewing.

I remember a scene in Band of Brothers where a captured Nazi is begging for mercy claiming that he is polish, and the GI tells him something like "there ain't no Pols in the SS." Anyone got reference for me to find out more on what countries had conscripts in Nazi uniforms during the 101st campaign?

And Neo, like the other guys said, no one is saying that Poland was part of the Axis, it's just that men had to fuel the war through the military mechanism of conscription, it doesn't reflect on Polish soldier's national character though. Even the Pope was an Air Defender in a Nazi uniform once.
