I've seen it before in films and read about it. There were occasions in which rifles blocked, how did soldiers fix this? As they never did it on the batlefield they had to do it after the battle. How long did it take to fix or deblock a rifle like a garand?

I'm assuming your talking about a rilfe "malfunction"? I've owned and fired an M1 Garand rilfe for over 20 years. I'm intimately familiar with every detail of the rifle. I can field strip it in my sleep. There are many ways to fix a malfunction in the field. It all depends on the severity. Some are easy to fix others require and armorer. Infantry troops are trained to field strip their weapons blind folded. They are also instructed on proceedures such as "immediate" action when they have a malfunction. That may only require the riflemen to pull the bolt to the rear and dislodge the round in the chamber. In 20 years I've never had a major malfunction with my rifle. In the field you did what you had to to live. If you can't fix your rifle you better find someone who doesn't need their's any longer. Semper Fi, MudMarine
