At the Camp Johnson Army National Guard base in Vermont there is a military museum called the: Vermont Veterans Militia Museum and Library which has been there about 10 years. I have driven past quite often but never stopped to see the F-4 and M-60 tank they have there. I finally stopped by to look and found the museum.
There is quite a bit of outside vehicle displays..artillery,AA guns, etc. Next to the buiilding is a 16" naval shell next to the front door. When I went inside I was blown away.
They have a huge deactivated weapon display with numerous SMG's..even a MP44. Uniforms from all wars on dummies,150mm german artillery gun, gaitlin gun,80mm mortar, british anti-tank gun, etc, etc, etc.
I will be volunteering as soon as I get my background check done and handed in. They do not do any restorations as of yet but I hope to get the ball rolling on that. I can turn a wrench pretty good and I love this stuff..lol
Way to go man, that sounds so cool. You will have to keep us updated on how things are going there, and fill us in on some more of the cool things on display. Wish I was in your shoes.
saw the Military channel episode on M1 Abrams training..pretty wild.
Hit door opener with leg, grab round, release door, spin shell 180,shove in breech with fist, let breech block rise with arm in place, move back while checking loaded light on and insuring ammo door closed and yell "heat up!" BANG
