Check this out! I guess they used this aerial reconnaissance image to recreate the battlefield where the mission about dead man's corner is going to take place.

Yeah and that aerial photo contects to this one

Map which links to the one above

Also this map has an explanation which refers to Robert Cole. Also in the upper right-hand corner is "deadman's corner"

There is a highly militarized account of the battle for Carentan and preceding battles at the site below. And maps. The arial shots already posted are better, though.

http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/BOOKS/WWII/utah/utah5.htm

Sorry if you've seen this already.

I just watched Saving Private Ryan last night and there is an oblique reference to Carentan. After the landing, Tom Hanks walks up to a Maj. or Lt. Col. while he's talking on the radio. The Maj. says something like, "If we don't get the armor up to Carentan, there's some boys who are sitting ducks" or something along those lines. In the game, it looks as if we will be crossing the Merderet river, the same that was the line of defense in the movie.

Here is a website which provides an UNBELIEVEABLE set of maps and photos to support the entire area and events of the game.

http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-Utah/

This site includes the exact position of Hill 30, which is just southwest of Carentan.

It's awesome that all the game locations are real. In an OXM preview they played a single player level (and thought it was really cool) then they were handed an aerial photo of the level they just played. They were astonished at how true to life it was. They were like, "Oh there's the church where I died. That's the overturned cart where I was pinned down. That's the church tower that the sniper was in." Stuff like that. Hammer
