I constantly have my GRAW freeze on me. I have all the req's. Why can't I play without some crappy crash, or a "GRAW.exe has encountered a problem" thing!! My system has:
AMD Athlon XP 4000+ 64
ABIT Fatal1ty KN8 SLI Delux
Maxtor 250 gb 7200 rpm 16 mb buffer SATA
2 Gb dual chan DDr (4x512)
SB Audigy LS
XFX GeForce 7900 GTX M520 (dual cards in SLI mode)
450 pwr sup

I thought for sure that would be plenty to play.........Am I missing something?

Don't be ignorant. The name of the forum is "Ghost Recon Tech Support-Self Help:" with an emphasis on Self Help. If you don't like the Self Help portion of these forums then go find another forum that will meet your expectations. The Devs probably read these forums and incorporate the feedback into a new patch. If you keep badgering them then what incentive do they have to bother writing a patch? They have enough on their plate as is. I'm sure their Execs are breathing down their neck to fix the bugs that the Devs didn't warned the Execs about in the first place. The software industry is a market where you release an unfinished product and then work like hell to release a patch before the bugs cause anyone too much pain. Geesh dude, calm down and grow up. If you really want to send a letter of discontent then send it to the president of the company. He's the one who allowed a buggy product to be released in the first place.

i've tried it with patch 1.20 and this happens:

Crash in application version: gcpcrc1.20
Direct3D - Unknown capability violation exception
Script Stack
data\lib\managers\viewportmanager.dsf(0)
data\lib\setup0\setup.dsf(0)
data\levels\mission01\mission01.dsf(0)

I can't even load the first mission!

My specs are all in line with the recommendations for GRAW. While I only have 512MB RAM, but Rainbow Six Lockdown needs 1GB and it runs fine on my computer. Could this be the problem?

Hi martinbrixx,

"3D Graphics Resolution of 2560x1600 Max "

Are you running the game at 2560x1600 ? If so it could be the cause of this error

"Could not load texture because IDirect3D9::CreateTexture call failed.
Direct3D could not allocate sufficient memory to complete the call."

A few things you could try:

1)If you are running at this resolution try 800x600
2)make sure you install the directx 9.0c off the GRAW DVD
3)download the latest ATI drivers, v6.7 I think

Regards ...

THIS GOES OUT TO RACERX WHO HAD SOME TYPE OF BULL**** REPLY TO OUR GAMING ISSUES. FIRST OFF WE PAY 50 BUCKS TO PLAY A GAME AND EXPECT TO PLAY IT INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME ON SITES LIKE THIS TRYING TO FIX IT. THE PHRASE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPECTATIONS SHOULD BE THE ISSUE HERE AND NOT A DEFENSE TO SOME OVER PAYED PROGRAMMER WHO CANT EVEN WRITE A GAMING PROGRAM WITH OUT PROBLEMS. THE GAME HAS BEEN OUT FOR LESS THAN A WEEK AND ALREADY A PATCH? IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT THE PRESIDENT SAID THE GAME AND THE MAKER IS HELD RESPONSABLE SO IM GOING TO RETURN MINE AND I HOPE OTHERS WILL FOLLOW, AND MAYBE A LACK OR DECLINE IN SALES MIGHT WAKE UP THOSE OVER PAYED PROGRAMERS AND TECS. I DIDNT SPEND 50 BUCKS TO WASTE MY TIME ON THIS SITE TRYING TO FIX MY GAME, AND NEITHER DID ANYONE ELSE, SO ENOUGH EXCUSES.

Noob, you're replying to a thread over a year old.
You don't know sh*t about game programming, name me one game that didn't need a patch or alterations to the pc to run. The sims maybe.....
Grin is working hard to get the graw2 going, that's why patches come out, they fixed stuff found in teh demo in a patch that came out on the release of graw2 that is not bad, that is good support! See how many patches came out vor Vegas? This game will be much better of. Now please go enjoy the game or do something else than posting a reply in capitals to a year old thread....

LOL!!!
Still, the sad thing is that like me, he probably found this thread doing a search trying to fix a crashing issue that is over a year old without a fix. Have you seen how many posts there are on this IDirect3D9 render bla bla crash? It's terrible! I've never seen such a consistany and frequency of crashing in any other game, ever.

So, I'll tell you all what I have learned from reading this thread...the next time I consider making a game purchase, I will first read thru the forums to see how much of THIS I find.
Me? I was chugging along fine until I installed the 1.35 patch, now I crash EVERYTIME I play the game. But, in my experience, UBISOFT cares absolutely nothing about it's consumers. That's why these forums are so important. So, next time I'll read the forums before I waste my hard earned money because all of those guys ahead of me are correct, we buy the games to PLAY them, not waste hours researching how to FIX the F'n things!
But, that's just MY opinion, I could be wrong..Wink

PS, ignore the sig. That's my old system and I haven't edited my profile yet
