Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much - other work I'm afraid is keeping me busy.

Anyway, this is good news and to update on a post that Doolittle made in December asking for people to vote for this annual machinima festival.

I'm very pleased to see that three IL2 movies made it to the finals, even though none of them were outright winners.

* Shoulder to Shoulder by me

* The Desert Dogfighter by Wolf

* Inside the Whirlwind by TLR

Congrats to all the runner ups and winners!

Keep the flame alive, chaps, I hope there will someday be a resurgence with IL2 or BoB filmmaking - there are still many great stories to be told.

Great videos, though two points to be made:

1) In the 'inside the whirlwind' film, some slight historical inaccuracy or rather vagueness, the Bf-110 attack and lack of escorts suggest a 1943 to mid 1944 event, but the Bf-109Ks and Fw-190Ds suggest latish 1944-1945. Just nitpicking mind you, the emotion and directing are stellar.

2)These films would have improved ten-fold with the use of some effect mods, sparks and fires.

Great work otherwise.

A lot of the old filmmakers are working in different areas now.

Hoping that the situation evovlves again and more filmmakers come onto the scene. Perhaps when SoW comes out - Oleg says definitely for sure by or before Oct 2010. He didn't even say give or take a couple of weeks.

All good movies.

Mystic Puma is hard at work on his 325th Checkertail movie.
He gave some updates at SimHQ. I'm surprised not to see it here.

Here is a link to his post at SimHQ.
325th Checkertail Movie - an update for the interested!

I found what he is going to do very fascinating.
