Is 2cd a typo for 2nd (second)???....as in it is your second favorite? If so, what is your first?

yes, it's a typo. I get into a hurry. My fav so far is the Faith hope and Charity. I've watched an outrageously large number of these things so far (at least 30) and my 2nd fav is now "Not my time to die", because of the accuracy and realism. I loved that thing.....very impressive. POW2 is my third fav now, but that's pretty good for 30+. Still the most original. And I read all the credits. I didn't realize that my CO (Beebop) and some of the guys I fly with were movie stars or tech help.

Heh! I watched about a 100 machinima videos only from IL2! Must be somewhere near 150 if you take all games into account. And about 150 IL2 vids are still waiting on my HD to be viewed. Big Grin

This movie was one of the better I've seen. Excellent job, Monty-Dan! Thumbs Up Very original and refreshing. Smile

Wow... I saw this thread title in the board list several months ago and for whatever reason never opened it or watched the movie. I've just found the page with the hi-res versions of your stuff and watched them all.

The others were great, and this one was too but for different reasons. This type of artistic creativity, imagination, and dare I say... bravery... sets this movie apart from all the others.

I had never even read this thread before so I had no idea what to expect from the movie. I've done a lot of reading on Flight 19 as well as Bermuda Triangle stuff in general, so at the beginning I noticed the name "Charles Taylor" right away. However, it is a somewhat generic type of name and I thought it was simply a coincidence. When the bright light appeared during the low-level chase I thought "whoa.. THIS is gonna be different!"

I'm also a big Kubrick fan so I liked the scenes near the end too. You know the ones I mean. Think "Also Sprach Zarathustra" Smile

Anyway, job well done. This should be attached to a resume you send to a production company in Hollywood.

Hi MrMojok,

Sorry for the late response, I have been totally consumed in something else for a few weeks. Firstly thanks for taking the time to watch all my movies, it is appreciated Smile

The Kubrick connection to POW2 is clear as you spotted like a few other viewers who have posted. I think the movie 2001 is still the best Sci-Fi movie every made, in subject matter and even technically when you consider its now 38 years old, that tells you enough about Kubricks vision.

Also on the “bravery” comment, again a few people have said similar and again I am pleased you think that. The subject matter was extremely challenging, especially with a game engine like IL2 and my limited knowledge of FX.

Thanks for your enjoyable post

Regards
Monty-Dan

This is not a bit a self appraisal here, but genuine thanks to everyone who has viewed this thread Thumbs Up

For a thread to stay on the first page for over 10 months and to reach over 19,000 views has to be some sort of numerical record and from my point of view I am blown away bow

Again I want to thank the team who were part of the movie GL2, 310th Falcon, HH_Beebop, BBloke, Ntesla & MrVh without your input I am sure the above would not have been reached.

This is the last time I am going to post against this thread as I think it has overrun its course now, but to all those who viewed and posted and to the ones who just viewed the thread I pass on my thanks and appreciation, when you get this sort of interest in a movie it takes all the pain away from producing it Smile

Cheers
Monty-Dan

Hi Guys,

I was not going to post against this thread anymore, but something a bit special has happened for this community overall:

As you have seen already Faith Hope & Charity has been nominated at the European Machinima Film Festival in THREE categories.

Best Direction
Best Story
Best Visual Design

Pictures of War 2 has also been nominated in all three categories

The two films are miles apart in terms of story, one fictional; one totally factual, so it will be purely down to the judge’s tastes and subjectivity and level of the competition that determines if one of these movies does win one of the categories.

However, my own personal satisfaction is that we have now managed to get TWO films produced from the same game platform nominated in the same Festival, now that’s a result whatever happens in October when the results are announced Clap Clap Clap

So, to all at Wingman Productions well done and all the best, and to all at Monty-Dans Virtual Movies (looks around to see a production team of me....lol ) all the best also.

Cheers
Monty-Dan

Wow! Congratulations Monty! That is Great news! Thumbs Up

Flight Sim-based machinima movies finally getting recognized as legitimate Machinima!! Maybe the days of taking backseat to the "Red-vs-Blue" talking robots in SciFi-Land are over.

That's great news, Monty! It's nice to see two films from this community have been recognized with nominations. Did Mysticpuma enter his magnum opus, NMTTD? He definitely should have as I'm sure it would have received several nominations. It could have been an IL-2 sweep of the awards. Big Grin

Great Monty. Congrats!

I've checked out some of the oppostion and I reckon both our flight sim movies are very competitive.

As usual, we will be competing with subjectivity. It's the nature of it all. But having 2 of our genre in there is great news indeed!

If you guys all go together, we're going to need photos to document the drunken mayhem, clothes shedding and violence against decency and cultural norms at the awards ceremony. Monty, you're the only one I trust to stay sober, so you get to carry the camera.

Blackace,

I am starting a new job on the 1st October and will be all over the UK to start with so it could be difficult.

HOWEVER, I am going to try and make sure I am there with BBloke on Saturday 13th October.

So, e-mail me at sworsley180@tiscali.co.uk and I will let you know a little nearer the time so we can hopefully meet up with you and Joe.

GL2....I have a camera and I wont be drinking due to driving so I will get some good “punch up” shots of BA, Joe and BBloke in action Demonic

And thanks for the support messages guys Cool

I expect Joe to drink both of them under the table, so let me place an order right now for half a dozen 8X10 glossies of BA and BBloke passed out wearing kilts and with the name of any Scottish football team fingerpainted across their chests.

I am aiming to get there early morning Saturday 13th. And I aim to be there ALL day and ALL evening.

It is only 45 minutes drive from my house so there are no problems for travelling.

If I enjoy myself too much then its a travelodge for the evening.

MrVH might take the plunge and fly over as well.

So that will be BBloke, Monty-Dan, Joe-90, MrVH and Blackace all in one place at one time.

That would be real sweet.

Can't wait to meet you all, roll on the 13th (is that an omen ?)
