Well, one of them disappeard too, during the search and guess what? Sirprize, Sirprize, Sirprize! The PBM is in the film, tonight being played by a stand-in, a re-skinned H8K1.

Your gonna like this one Enforcer!

I think the sci-fi story probably caught everyone by surprise. Heck, I was surprised when I read the script! Wink But Monty did try to prepare people with his trailer showing the space walk, etc. It was just so far from anything we've seen in the past that nobody expected the story to go the direction it did. Now that Monty has broken the ice, I think we might see more stories that stretch the envelope like this. There's really a lot of storytelling potential to this hobby if you don't hold yourself to just straight-up war flicks. Most probably prefer stories that don't venture too far from that, but a little surprise here and there is kinda fun.

Wow! bow bow

Everything is made so well, story, sound is matching the video... Eek
And about the story, where did you get idea? I mean, nobody didn't even try to make a story with science fiction in it. It is very refreshing in comparison with Brothers in Arms and other PF movies. I hope that everybody who is making PF movies will try new ways of story telling and filming like you did.
I won't even touch Fraps and Windows movie maker anymore, becuse in comparison with you guys I suck big time. Smile

I give it 6/5! bow

To boldly go where no IL-2 movie maker has gone before Veryhappy

Very nice indeed.

What's next? a remake of Kubrick's Space Odyssey?

Masaker,
Thanks for the thumps up on the movie SmileThe ?idea? for the movie came from re-watching Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind were Flight 19 makes a brief appearance at the start and end of the movie, 2001 was an influence also as THX spotted.
I just wanted to produce something ?different? from the normal IL2 movies and see what the reactions would be and then see if other movie makers would try and open their imaginations a little more for future movie stories, we will see what happens.

Albertsma,
Not exactly a late reaction of yours, the thread has only been up for 2 weeks, glad you enjoyed the movie.

?A remake of 2001?......if I had the tools I would give it a go Typing Wink2

This is one of those films that you'll either love or hate, and I........loved it.

What can be said about it is that no-matter what your opinion is on the truth of what's out there, you have captured in all of us the interest that we have in the "are we alone' question, and tied it in beautifully with the IL2 game engine.

A beautifully crafted story, with very nice cinematography that must have taken an absolute age to create from the conceptual idea.

Really pleased I watched this movie, it moved the bar in story-telling (I feel) for a non-historical film (you know what I mean Wink ), and held my attention throughout.

Excellent work, when is POW3 released? Lol.

My only, and it is only a very small criticism, the end shot, I'd like to have seen all of the flight, rather than part of one (I think that's a safe way of saying it without giving it away!)

Cheers, MP.

Great Movie...in my top 10.

Again, An epic keeper.

A movie theater quality production In every respect. We are sure getting spoiled around here with these *free* films. I feel I shoulda paid admisssion of some sort! I'm afraid to break the news, but these group efforts are Far surpassing anything else on the net right now. You guys could easily use this work as demos in a resume for a graphic arts job!

I liked it a lot.

What I liked the best about it, though, was not the unexpected turn in the "third act" or anything. Rather, it was the middle. It certainly isn't easy to make the very script driven content of the 3rd act come to life. But there is something about the 2nd act that makes the film stand out. A script can't carry action scenes well, so any tension must instead come from somewhere else, like the cinematography and the editing. And damn, it's there alright. The tension. A rare thing in this... umm... "genre".

That's something I'd like to see more of in future IL2 films btw. Just because there is action - IL2 is all action anyway - it doesn't necessarily mean the action is any good. I'd rather see 30 sec of well thought out action, where a solid storyboard actually preceded the shoot, than another 10 incomprehensible minutes of various planes exploding left and right.

Yeah, I'm picky...

S! Mystic,

Pleased you ?loved it? rather than ?hated it? Cool

The cinematography, well if you take the whole movie as 100% then the cinematography must have represented at least 70% of the input, loads of tracks, static cameras, flying cameras and the re-takes...oh the re-takes Hammer

I know what you mean about the story, I knew it would be risky given the constraints of the movie making software I had, but I think I kept it simple enough and maybe that?s why most people have enjoyed it, let the viewer use their imagination instead of me having to buy expensive software to create top notch FX

Your small criticism is fine, and actually I agree with you, but you know better than anyone when I say at that point of the movies production I was getting jaded with my own project Googly

Thanks for the post, looking forward to NMTTD

I just watched Pictures of War. Very well done! I must say I'm ashamed I waited this long to see it. Quite impressive and excellent use of angles and effects.

I like leaving with the "what happens to those two pilots" feeling at the end, as it provokes more feelings towards what they might have endured in a situation like that.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Two thumbs up! Nice piece of film making, Monty! I shall be sure to watch the sequel tonight. Nice flying sequences, too!

Damn, I taught that BBloke well, huh? (He he, J/K my old friend, BBloke). Wink2

Hi JavDog,
?An epic? high praise indeed and appreciated if you see the movie like that, I think it is defiantly different and was risky but most of the comments have been on the positive side so I am pleased that some sort of ?groundbreaking? has been achieved here, many thanks Smile

Honeypot,
I am pleased you found the tension I was trying to produce, its never easy as all movie makers will concede to, many thnaks for the thumps up Smile

Slickstick,
OMG....Now there?s a name from the past, you still flying in the forums Slick Cool

You know I took up movie making because you and BBloke were forever on my six filling me with lead, gets boring after a while being the punch bag all the time Truce

Glad you got your finger out to watch POW; I think POW2 will surprise you though Big Grin
Thanks for the comments mate, good to see you are still around, drop in here a little more eh?

Wow. Wow.
I failed to watch it at first attempt, looked to be too long and somewhat boring.
For the second time, I took a quiet time, closed the lights, and it was very exiting. I guess the warning "keep your mind open for this one" is really important. Got to be ready to absorb this (as well), or you won't like it.

Congratulations, very nince one, excellent storyline, excellent narration, very nice camerawork. Clap

Hi rnzoli,

Thanks for giving the movie a second chance / watch Smile

Yep, the story is relatively complex for an IL2 movie and you do need to listen and concentrate more than normal to understand the story and enjoy fully what has been put in front of you. I think most people have watched the movie a couple of times to fully appreciate it from the feedback I have been getting.

Thanks for the post warning others who have not yet watched it Thumbs Up

Wink2

I sure do miss the old days of BBloke's Dedicated Server. It sure was nice to fly in a place by a Host that understood max lag and speed check and used them effectively.

I plan on watching PoW2 over the long holiday weekend. I'm very excited to see how it turns out. I've avoided reading anything about it, so as not to spoil my fun. Thanks again for taking the time to create art for our viewing pleasure. Thumbs Up

Hi waffen,

The last music track used on the credits was from the Last Samurai OST and the track was either A Small Measure of Peace or A Way of Life. The reason I can?t remember exactly is that this particular music has 3 very similar versions on the original sound track. However, I am fairly certain it was the last 1min 30 seconds of the track A Way of Life.

Thanks for viewing the movie.
