A trilogy in four parts.

Includes the first ever IL2 movie with no planes in it?

As the brave 69.GIAP hunts the dastardly Tirpitz...

Chew your nails at the night take off,

Gasp at the splash of torpedos,

Scream at the explosions,

Cringe at the gross overacting...

First download Xvid codec

Then the Intro.

Excellent movies. I really enjoyed the humor of the fishing boat running into the Tripitz and demanding compensation while in port. The headlines were great. The torpedo runs and high level bombing featured some great shots, well done. The best part was clearly the landings with Il-2's and B-25's, absolutely masterful. how did you bring those two aircraft to a full stop without running off the deck?? The B-25 I am guessing you reversed the prop's, but the Il-2 I am at a loss for. How do you stop a single engine airplane on the deck without a tail hook? Excellent wrok 69!!!

The carrier landings had to be filmed in realtime in order to get the battle damage - with Ntracks battle damage seems to dissapear. There is no special trick to landing without a hook. You set the carrier speed to max (50+ Kmh) heading south which gives an extra 10 Km/hr headwind, dirty up the plane with flaps and gear, 50% prop pitch to give more gentle throttle control then feel for near stall point, drop it on the deck gently and feed in the brakes with a gentle zig-zag. In actual practice the carriers were going a bit too fast and we were taxiing up to the end of the deck.

This way you can get the plane down in less than half the deck - which is what's needed for our carrier qualification training where we have to take off and land 5 times in a row in IL2s and A20s.

If you click on my badge to take you to the GIAP site look at the training section and you can download the carrier training missions.

Cool movie(s), original concept, and who was that playing the part of the fishing boat captain? That was an outstanding performance! Absolutely capital!! Such a powerful and commanding voice, and so on bow

Fantastic Stenka! And Tooz and the rest of your squad from 69GIAP.

Really enjpyed watching that. Good story and a laugh.

OK, so maybe the quality and cinematography was a bit on the low side, but a great example of how a good story is more important than a perfect picture Big Grin

Looking forward to the next one!

Hi Stenka,

Got chance to watch all the parts of this one at last Smile

Positives:
Descent story, well put together, very funny in parts, picture quality was good considering that many of early scenes were in a storm. Excellent sound effects and music choice, and good use of voice actors, apart from that Captain guy on the Fishing Boat who thinks he was Sean Connery Big Grin

Really enjoyed watching the IL2 land on the carrier, brilliantly done sir, I can’t even land at an Airfield.

Negatives:
The movie was drawn out in places; some of the scenes went on too long with the same camera shot, and in only a few places the sound level mix was not right, and the guy on the Fishing Boat, leave him out of your next production Big Grin

Having said all that for your first production I thought it was very good and entertaining 75% of the time, good work Stenka and team, oh and Tooz Wink

Hope you will make another one

******NEWS FLASH RELEASE******

Rumor has it that STENKA, TOOZ and the rest of the 69.GIAPer's will be staring in a epic film involving the historic British attack on the grand Italian fleet at Tarrento. I don't exactly know what devilish plan STENKA has up his sleve, but I am sure that it will be a strange one!

Well tarrento is a bit special...

Having rewritten the battle for the river plate I've no problem flyin torpedo planes at night and back off of a carrier... as for sean connery it's a big question as to whether he will turn up for the awsome budget...

A very funny series of films. I was not able to d/l #3, but I found it fun.

There were repetitious things you could have cut out, for example, all those flyby's in part 1?

Yes could have cut them - section 1 was the first experimental learning bit and I love flybys, and was too exhausted to go back and recut - also all section 1 was uncropped - and I
would remix sound to up music - but it still holds a raw edge which balances well with 2 and 3. It was only by the time I got to 3 that I got a better balance on suspense and action.

Either way it broke new ground in several areas - quite honestly I yawn more at yet another fighter dogfight...

Still the next film is technicaly challenging as it nearly all passes at night - wait for a real disaster there...

The first section of Tarranto will be out in about a month as the squad is just finishing the Recon mission out of Malta, the night strike will be running on Wednesday and then I have to design the part of the bad guys chasing the Illustrovich across the Med.

Oh - and we're still waiting for that fishing boat to turn up on the filmset.... it was last reported turning right out of Hamburg harbour...

Is there any chance someone could post the final instalment of this film again? I have downloaded it twice, and it appears the file is corrupted. The other three files play fine, but the last one won't for some reason.

Hi GL2 - I just tested the download on three separate computers and it ran clean - it is the longest of the films and if you have line problems you are likely to encounter them on this download. Please try again.

I am just finishing the first section of the new film - Taranto - when I complete that - next week I'll try uploading them all to a different site.

Willie - I'll get the title of that music tomorow - at the moment the CD's in the car.
